I usually buy those AE jeans when I get their 40% off coupon, makes them nice and cheap 😀

But I've never gotten a pair with the pockets sewn shut.. sounds like someone was not paying attention at their little sweat shops..

Kind of like faux hood scoops for pants.

Buy Levis who the hell pays more than $30 for a pair of jeans!

This!!!!

They were $30 actually!!!

Unfortunately prices are getting jacked. Hit $31 last August or so, now retailers want $34 for a pair of Levis!

[added !s]

I usually get my jeans from express (damnit, change it back to structures!). Never had any jeans with pockets sewn shut. Perhaps a cost cutting measure to get the slave labor to work faster?

Only have had dress slacks/jackets sewn shut, but maybe I dress like a slob.

You fail, AE isn't that pricey.

http://www.ae.com/web/browse/c...de.jsp?catId=cat130130

Your nickname fits, noob. Nobody buys that shit at full price. End of season always means $10-20 AE jeans. And sometimes <$10 Aeropostale jeans.

Just pointing out that at what they originally cost and what the op said:

I've always bought jeans from AE

Maybe next time you should learn to read before you make yourself look like a ass.

form over factor failure?

Form over function, you mean?

Actually, it sounds like masturbation prevention, where they're trying to prevent you from winning a game of pocket pool.

I heard that suit jackets have their pockets sewn shut to keep the form and prevent/minimize wrinkling.

Maybe AE pants stylist thought that... Honestly, take them back. Jeans without pockets are useless no matter how good they look.

Levis are the most uncomfortable pair of jeans I've ever worn in my life. Then again it's been a long time since I've worn any so maybe the comfort quality doesn't blow anymore.

Well comfort always varies between fits and styles. I've had some Levis that were uncomfortable and hideous, as well as some that were extremely soft, comfortable, and looked unlike what I've known from Levis.

Same with AE. And with any brand.

You didn't notice this when buying them?
Who the heck (besides you, obviously😉) checks that when buying pants?
Might as well count the number of teeth on each side of the zipper too.
😛

35.
Each side.
Oh.... um... who does that, seriously?
😛

Every pair of jeans/pants I buy, I try on. In the process, I am able to visually identify these things called pockets. And they tend to either very slightly open or behave like a normal pocket when moving. I imagine a pocket sewn shut would not do this. 😛
I pay attention to detail. That and I'll put my hand in the pocket to see what the pocket is like - I use my pockets, keys, cell phone, etc... and I don't buy jeans with tiny pockets. 😉

Go get a thread remover thingy from Wal-Mart for under $1 and problem solved without risking screwing up your pants.

Or just return them.

I use a thread remover all the time to take off tags, patches, logos from clothes.

so there are actual pockets there? then yes you can do that. I've seen this done with dress clothes

This is done with dress clothes quite frequently. It could possibly be a way to make their jeans high class...

i could put a turd in a solid gold bowl, still doesn't make it high class.

in the 80's or so some designer jeans had faux pockets.

I never understood them either...but some wish to have their maximum exposure.

So my brand new American Eagle jeans have the front pockets sewn shut. Why the f would they do this. Can I just cut the threads to open the pockets?

I've always bought jeans from AE and they were never like this. Anyone else's AE jeans come with the pockets sewn closed?

somebody at the 25cents/day factory must be doing this as a form of protest. :Q
