Come to think of it just service on a Rolex is well over $100 so maybe not too much of a rip off depending upon how much your RW was new and what they replaced. Batt movements are quite cheap and a good wind up movement can be had quite reasonably also.

Was it a wind up or battery type? How old? Rubber gaskets dry and crack.

I agree an expensive watch should have more than a year but then again they think if you can afford an expensive watch you shouldnt care.

I took it to a couple watch stores including the one it was bought at and they told me it was out of warranty. Considering it was a wedding gift from my wife and cost probably several thousand bucks, I didn't throw it out. It's a battery powered Parcifel that didn't make it 3 years. I did buy a nice Swatch James Bond watch though in its place.
