My screen shot

NEVER EVER O/C....

PC hang when using the latest 23.11 Nvidia driver
the above screenshot is achieved with the old driver

even with the old driver, PC hang when playing mpg

I am using win2k with SP2 and geforce MX

Is it virus / hardware / drivers ?

I leave my pc running morpheus overnite and wake up find out the cr@p..
PC hang, reboot, cannot complete win2k boot sequence unless running safe mode @640*480

I think it's a virus and then format hd and resinall win2k...
I do NOT have such a problem b4 even using win2k with 23.11 driver...

Pls advice

thanks

I was having a quasi-similar problem with my computer a couple of months ago. Turned out to be a bad video card....

If it works with older driversand wasn't doing that earlier do you still think it's a bad card?

<< Bad memory chip. >>

I support that theory, my friend had a few g400 cards and they had a bad memory chip and this exactly same happened to him.

I have a g400 though and I´v had no such problem.

to clarify

latest 23.11 driver, win2k won't even go into desktop and complete the sequence unless run safe mode @640*480
just hang with NO icon in win2k....

older version driver, win2k load but have funny lines randomly... refresh will clear but lines get back later...
playing .mpg will hang the machine...

so frustated...
now running a ATI 8MB PCI ......

had very similar prob with certain det drivers. took awhile but found that the 23.11's ended up workin for me too eventually. Maybe run det destroyer and reinstall 23.11's????

are u overclocking at all? i had similare affect on my old tnt2 when i bumped the ram speed up too much, it wasnt that bad looking tho, but the same overall affect. maybe try underclocking it a little and see if it clears up? if it does then u probably got a bad card.

Bad memory chips. Had this problem on an ATI Radeon I won from a site (remember those days?), ended up having to take it back and buy a GeForce 2 because ATI's tech support was terrible :(
