WTF! My debit card just got charged by EBAY..?! (Unauthorized)

You shouldn't have used a debit card in the first place.
Contact Ebay (customer service is a b!tch) and then your bank about it.

Agreed.

Debit card on the Internet = BAD

I don't care if your bank offers fraud protection it still takes days to weeks for you to recover your funds.

Not my BofA Visa Check Card. I think YMMV on whatever card you have.

if its not your charge call the banks 800 number to block the card right away

then you need to go to your bank in the morning and fill in a fraud report to get you money back....seems to take a while though

this just happened to me at the weekend - $305 out of pocket

I would

I would like to try to find out who is charging my card

ask what was purchased, if they have a shipping address etc.

Alrighty it's blocked.

Now I have to wait until tommorow to contact the bank for a new card and find out what I can do about getting my money back.

Got hit with $1425 on mine last month.

I got provisional credit back a few days later but the bank is still investigating so I can't close the account.:disgust:

If you have a Visa debit card, you should be covered under their zero liability policy.

Yeah, it's a Visa Check Card. As long as this card is blocked than I should be fine.

It's just a matter of dealing with the bank tommorow...I hope I don't get too much of a runaround :frown:

Good luck.

I'm switching banks because the one I have is terrible, no 24hours customer service, early closing, no online account checking. Bigger banks offer so much more. When I went in to report it the CSR guy (he looked young, twenty-something) just hands me a sheet and tells me to fill it out. No instructions, no talk, no nothing. Probably figured I was a poor student who was out a few bucks. Little did he know... So I filled out the sheet and took it into another branch, the lady there was much nicer and was much more helpful, plus she didn't seem to happy that the other guy didn't try to help me.

Blah the bank won't deal with it unless eBay refeuses to refund me. Now I have to wait until I get my bank statement in and fax/send copies of everything to eBay :|

Same, you must be a Platinum member too 🙂 Insta-credit (24-7) as soon as you call it in for the full disputed amount while they research it. I also have additional security measures in place, like secured by Visa, the 3-digit number on the sig tag, and a stop-limit of $2,000 without personal phone verification. On my card itself, has my picture, but thats nothing new. I don't even use my other CC's.
