In fact I would STRONGLY suggest you calling them and setting your credit limit to some lower amount.

That is a smart thing to do, not only from the stand point of limiting what you can buy, but having too much revolving credit is also a bad thing.

If you pay in full each month, do they take into consideration how much you've spent in that month? Ex.- paying off a $40-50 statement compared to maxing out the card and then paying it off in full? I'm just wondering b/c I used to not use my cc for much more than paying for gas each month, and then I heard that they're more willing to raise your limit if you spend more in a month, so I've been using the card more for regular purchases, and now charge maybe $200 a month (500 limit). Is there any truth in this?

Man, Credit is some scary stuff, i got a Circuit City card like 6 months ago and i went a lil ape-sh*t and now im 6k in debt, so now im an 18 yr old kid who will be in debt for probably another 10yrs, please help me bill gates.🙂

Are you talking a retail card not issued by Visa, MC, or Amex. They gave you a 6K limit at 18. I doubt that seriously.

Yeah they tend to increase your credit limit after you run it up one month (charge over $1G) and pay it off, the other way for them to like you is to let the balance run and make min payments on time every month. Both have resulted in credit limit increases for me more than once. You also need to stay far enough under your limit. Citi just upped my limit by $2000 recently actually was on the statement before the letter even showed. I've never requested a limit increase on any card. My combined credit cards limit (6 cards (4 credit, 2 store)) is about equal to my annual salary, not good if you can't manage you're finances responsibly.

I've had a $999 limit on my Visa for quite some time now. I've had the card for over a year, paid my bills on time, but they haven't upped my limit.. but it's probably because I'm a minor. Hopefully they'll up the limit when I'm 18 (about a month).

citi bank just added $2000 to my limit 🙁 But i'm no where near the limit of my card. I'm paying them off every month cause those bastards aint getting any money from me. heh heheh....
