WTF? My car failed smog check :( *UPDATE*

go to the auto store and buy the additive they sell that you add into your gas tank, got me to pass before when they used to do the test here in FL.

can't be catalytic cuz that usually takes 10 years+ to fail. probably your EGR valve, EGR sensonoid, or O2 sensor. could also just be something minor like spark plugs, air filter, oil filter. i spent over $500 trying to diagnoze my car's failure to pass smog. it might be easier for u to just goto a smalll shop that can test and tell u what it is exactly. it cost me bout $30 for a guy to run a test smog and tell me exactly what was wrong (o2 sensor). if i had done that in the first place instead of gambling on what is wrong, i'd save a whole bunch of money. anyone here can tell you what they think but honestly there's a lot of possibilities.

Had my cat go on a 3 year old Blazer, so it can happen.

 

The catalytic converter has nothing to do with failing NOX in this case, if the catalytic converter was bad, his carbon monoxide would be through the roof as well, it's the damn EGR valve people.

Nah... I can't count how many cats I've replaced within a few years of new.
