They're only the most influential metal band.. ever.

Hahaha, you're kidding right? I mean extremely talented, popular, use to be a great metal band , but most influential? not even close. Metallica got the most mtv and radio playtime of any metal band ever, hence, they're the most popular in terms of record sales. Iron Maiden did way more for metal without virtually any playtime in the US.

got it signed at texas tapes and records before the Metallica show in Houston in 1985

that night seriously rocked...

iron maiden and wasp at the summit (compaq center now) and then armored saint and metallica at a little ol club called Cardis off of westheimer...didn't get home until like 3 in the morning (was still in high school back then)....

i wish i had some money so i could see them again. their show in austin just left me wanting more (they didn't play a single song off of kill 'em all).

I realize you're all a bunch of assholes, but you have to give credit where credit is due. There aren't very many bands that have been around for the last 25 years.
... and still do what THEY want to do. As evidenced by a new / different sound on every album since TBA. If it's not your taste, so be it. Still got to give them credit for roaming on like the pioneers they always were.

They won't say it, so I will. Fvck the fans. You're riding on their train... always have been. Get on or STFU.

When are all you c0cksuckers going to realize that a band doesen't suck just because you don't like their latest material? A band is not your personal musical entertainment slave.

If you can't realize that change is the name of the game in the music business, then you are blind.

Do you really think it would be "better" if they were still the same? Christ, wake up.

Each and every one of Metallica's albums has been 100% different from the last one(besides maybe Load and Reload, but those were basically recorded at the same time). That is what makes them unique in a sea of wannabes.

If any of you actually watched this, you would see that they are just normal people. Hello? Do you really think they would still be together, do you really think they would've gone through counceling, do you really think they would have poured their heart and soul into Metallica again if it was just about the money?

They have enough money to last them a lifetime and beyond. If making music didn't come from their heart, do you really think they would've even bothered to look in the mirror and fix themselves and stick together for the sake of the band?

Just.. fscking wake up.

Yeah, whatever.

Anyway, yeah, I saw the preview. I'm hoping I can record it myself. Should be very interesting.

Nomatter what you all think about them, they are a very strong group of individuals. They have not succumb to the lifestyle that they're subject to, they're remarkably normal people.

How many other bands do you know of that would bother going to counceling for the band? Most bands fall apart at the slightest hint of conflict.

I realize you're all a bunch of assholes, but you have to give credit where credit is due. There aren't very many bands that have been around for the last 25 years.

Actually...I think they turned intp pricks once Cliff died, it seems like they go through bass players like water now....plus Lars is a prick..period, I dont believe he is "a normal guy" for one minute, he's a little wolverine when it comes to money, plain and simple.

Perhaps that statement was a little strong, but you still can't deny them their place in music history. They have certainly been influential.

I'd say that Black Sabbath was more influential than Iron Maiden. That is all subjective, though... everyone is going to say something different, based on their personal tastes.

They've had 2 bass players in the last 18 years, that's like water? lol.....

I would say they have been very influential in rock in general, but they are hardly trend setters, there were hundreds of bands who made the same music...they just rode out the storm to say the least.
I wont deny them that they earned their money, but in the latter years it (in my opinion) has been about the money for them..

Remember when they said they would not bow to MTV or make a video becuase they didnt believe in them, all of a sudden, BAM! A new video...and MTV plays it..and they realize just how many albums get picked up because of it..now they make a video every chance they get.
Then they decide to hire Bob Rock, the king of pop metal to help them on ther album that frankly was as mainstream as they had ever done...did they need more of a fan base?
