WTF McDonald a $1 for lettuce and $0.50 for sauce?

The same, as a practical matter. The flour is obviously going to hold up for a while. Buffalo mozzarella usually comes in small quantities to begin with, and San Marzano tomatoes come in a can or a jar - you can always vac 'em back up.

The bigger question is, who wastes such good ingredients? The cheese is good on its own, and the tomatoes would be great for pasta. Anyone buying that stuff and letting it go bad shouldn't be buying it in the first place. If you care at all about food, that's excellent stuff.

But if you want a literal answer, closer to $10.

ok..wow. Most that make their own pizza do it rarely, which was my point.

If you are a foodie and spend your time in the kitchen, of course YMMV.

None of the ingredients that go into a pizza are really all that specific to pizzas. If you're cooking dinner the next night, you can easily use the leftover ingredients.

If you can pull off a half-decent pizza, you'll know what to do with some leftover mozzarella and tomatoes.

What crawled up your ass? This was a civil conversation.

For one, the cheese I buy doesn't come in bags. And yes, cheese can be used as food well beyond pizza. I'm pretty sure you know this. And tomatoes are pretty versatile too. What other crap am I missing?

Making pizza, even good pizza, is cheap.

Making pizza, even good pizza, is cheap.

The pizza I made myself 2 months ago cost $22, I wouldn't say that's cheap. But than again I'm not a millionaire like most on here.

What the hell did you put in/on it?

2 packs Garlic/Parm crusted Salami from the deli, they're $8.99 for a 3oz pack. I could have easily spent $30-40 if I wanted as the meat was very sparse on it. I could have spent way more than even that if I had went with the top shelf Salami.

The cheese most use on pizza lasts just about forever.
Only once have I ever seen mozzarella go bad and even then it was just harmless mold...
Not that the sight of it didn't make me ill after having eaten some of it. :eek:

Same goes for sauce. No sauce I have ever used either from a can or homemade has ever gone bad.
It would take months if not longer for that to happen.

Hint: Store your food properly and you wont have those issues.

it does? hmm i don't care for mozzarella much (i love munching on cheese and love to try diffrent kinds) maybe getting the good stuff will be different. Also how would you store stuff like that? i have never got cheese that comes in a liquid.

Apparently, this thread is now about pizza.

To the OP, if you ask for toppings that don't normally come with your sandwich, what do you expect them to do? If you want something, you pay for it. Pretty simple concept.

It usually comes in a little plastic bag that contains the ball of cheese and the liquid. It's completely different to the plastic fantastic mozzarella that comes in a block and doesn't taste of much.
It's good on pizza but fantastic in a tomato and basil salad with a bit of balsamic dressing. It's got a fresh milky flavour and a soft texture.
The buffalo mozzarella is awesome but the cows milk stuff is fine.

I don't think I have ever even seen mozzarella sold like that here. :(

That's a shame, fresh mozzarella is fantastic. You can make a decent pizza without it but, personally, I wouldn't bother with the plastic mozzarella and just use something else.
If you do manage to get hold of some try a tomato and basil salad with the mozzarella torn up in it, tis yummy.

Yes I know it is not actually that hard to make but still.

Where is here? I'm sure it's available if you really want to try it. Maybe not buffalo mozzarella, because that is generally imported, but an equivalent cows milk has to be available (or at least I hope).

Do you have an Italian restaurant in town? Ask 'em if they have any fresh mozzarella coming in, and if they'd sell you some. By the way, that's not a bad way to get pizza dough either, if they have pizza on the menu. We had homemade pizza once a week when I was growing up, and the dough was never made at home - a nearby place sold it if you asked. It's fairly common, so don't feel too weird asking.

Worst case, as you said, you could make it. The Internet can supply you with rennet and citric acid, then you just need a gallon of milk and it's actually kinda fun every once in a while.

I went to McDonalds for the first time in months today. Decided to get a MCDouble and turn it into a fake Big Mac by adding on shredded lettuce and Big Mac Sauce. They charged me a $1 for each shredded lettuce and 50 cents for each Big Mac Sauce. WTF really a $1 for lettuce and 50 cents for a spoon full of sauce.

Damn, that could get expensive real quick. :eek:
