umm my highschool had this policy back in 1998, not sure why its even making the news now

your highschool sucks

lol

i never understood what the big deal was i never carried my backpack with me anyway, time between classes to go to your locker for the next classes books and such

o noes you gotta go to your locker to get your tampons, also not that big of a deal

I never used a locker during high school. I carried all of my books in my bag. Fucking pansies that couldn't do that are whiners.

However, if I HAD to go to a locker between classes, I would frequently be late because the lockers were in stupid places and I'd end up with a locker on the NW corner that I would have had to walk to from the NE corner to get a book to go to a class on the SE corner, and there really would not have been time for that as the campus was pretty sprawled out.

So did mine... although wimmenz were still allowed to have purses. No one was allowed to carry backpacks except into and out of school as they had to be in yer locker.

I always carried mine with me before they made it against the rules. It's nice having extra pencils and crap with you just in case and if you have a lot of little books... well, it's easier to carry 'em in da bag.

I guess I probably did go a little to far when I started throwing open random classroom doors while the class was in session then sliding my backpack across the floor into the room while yelling "incoming satchel charge!"

I'm sure this will prevent school shootings.

*kid walks in with backpack*

Teacher: excuse me please put your backpack back in your locker, school policy

*kid pulls gun out of backpack and shoots teacher in face*

i always carried my bag, but i went to a tiny school with asshole teachers. 2 minutes was often not enough time to grab your things between classes, and every teacher hassled you for being late.

This kind of policy is becoming rather common place. The high school I went to and my little sister is currently at enacted this same thing last year. Then THIS year, they changed passing time from 10 minutes to 4. This is a three story HUGE school, and the students now have 4 minutes to get from one class, to the locker, and to the next class. And, get this, when the bell rings, the teachers are instructed to lock the doors and not allow access to tardy students. Anyone caught in the hall after the bell rings has to go sit in the cafeteria, where they aren't allowed to do ANYTHING. They cant read, do homework, sleep, they have to sit there for the duration of the class and stare off into space. So due to the administration's bad policy, students who WANT to show up to class and learn but are unable to make it in 4 minutes, are punished by not being able to learn anything at all!

The way to combat that is tell people not to rush too much. When a few hundred kids are late to every single class, the school might get the message.

We originally had four and then they moved it down to three. It kinda sucked when they nerfed it and also didn't allow backpacks so you sometimes had a huge stack of books 😱. Maybe we should've QQ'd more?

Let me guess, you were late the day they showed everyone how to create paragraphs. 😛

Meh, my HS was spread out and didn't allow bags. It was just a matter of planning ahead and carrying the books for 2 or 3 classes at a time so that you only needed to stop at your locker 2-3 times a day instead of between every class. You'd just time it so you switched books when your normal walk to the next class took you close to your locker.

EDIT: Granted, we had 5 minutes between classes. It's insane that schools are shortening the time to anything less than that. It's not like the extra few minutes from compressing that time is really going to be useful in a school day.

yeah my stupid catholic HS had that policy. 5 minutes to get from class to class, no backpacks, and lockers that were literally 6" wide. You had to hustle to make it even though the school was small, and if you were late 3x it was detention.

And to add icing on the cake, the majority of teachers did not allow bathroom privileges, and would say "go in between class!!!". So it was either be late or piss yourself. good stuff.

They expect you to carry 3 books, plus any extra equipment (I'd love to see that plus all my drafting/CAD stuff work lol) - WITHOUT a bag?

that's why you carry the knives and guns in your pants..

the stupidity of a public school never fails to amaze me. They are doing this shit at my nieces high school now as well.

I carried a pocketknife with me at all times during high school and carried a gym bag as well. Hell I remember smuggling in a mini-boombox one time just so I could here the ACC tournament.

I was in honors classes and a student athlete, but still knew when and where to get a handgun or drugs if needed. There were no shootings/stabbings/drug arrests and only a handful of fist fights.

My kid is either going to a charter or private school, there is no way I would submit them to what has become an absolute joke.
