why would she do that? was she planning for a christmas special?
She believes she's above the rules that every other common person has to live with. That's what got her in prison to begin with, and apparently she has not learned her lesson.....

Name me one person that wouldn't sell their stocks, if the owner said it is going to dive bomb like there is no tomorrow.

Martha got convicted because she is famous and had more money than the jurors....Envy

I would have done the same thing.

Martha is not being punished because she sold the stocks. She's being punished because she encouraged people to lie about the transaction for her and had her personal assistant "doctor" her journal logs relating to the issue.

Sadly, people think she's being punished because, she's, well, Martha. However, there's more to the story than your 6:00 P.M. news tells you.

yeap i would probably do the same thing. But that is not what she is in jail for. She tried to covor it up. That is what she is got nailed on.

ignore the fact what she did in the first place was against the law. she commited more crimes trying to covor it up.

No, I would not do the same thing, because it's illegal. In my job (working in finance for a large corporation) I see the financial data for the company every day. If I act on that data and buy or sell stock based on that info, I'd be in jail. The laws are there to protect investors that don't have insider info. She just figured it only applied to average shmucks, not to her. She knew damn well it was illegal, so she subsequenly tried to lie and cover it up. That's what she's in jail for.....
