i have a wacko uncle who bought into this. he even went to Russia to pick up his "bride".Originally posted by: johnjohn320
So I'm flipping channels at 1:30 AM, and come across some girls in bikinis. Being a guy, I stop flipping. But what I discover is kind of disturbing-it appears that they're basically advertising Russian girls to be married off to American men. The informercial is just showcasing all these women talking about why they want to find their soul mates and come to America. They're trying to get guys go to some "Russian Love Match" website, which I haven't visited, but anywho, there's the gist...
I only post this because I find it weird-I didn't think mail-order brides still existed, and if they did, I certainly didn't think it was legal and even advertised on late-night television. Anyone else find this strange?

Here in Alaska I know at least two men personally that have taken Russian brides, although one of them reportedly just got dumped by his Russian bride (he moved away so I only hear rumors). One thing to know about Russian women: they all lie about their age. It's part of their culture. My wife has a degree in Russian studies.

Supposedly some of them are for legitimatly finding a bride for life, but many have been under investigation.Originally posted by: iversonyin

Apparently they plan to get divorced right away and the man gets a cut, the service gets a cut, and the women spends 30 years of indentured servitude to some guy named "Tito".
Tito is the one who puts up all the cash initially.
But girls want to come to America so bad they will agree to it.
I have no clue how many services are legit and how many are scams.
But if you ever read from nomarriage.com, the author says only marry foriegn girls.
Hell, I would do it if I had the money.
You cant buy women, but there is a "Service fee".
Sometimes tens of thousands.

I don't see how these things work though. Do these guys fly over there and simply pick one out?
I'd be worried she'd divorce me as soon as we get back, and end up with half my stuff.
