up to date and set properly are two different things. i'm not trying to sound condescending nor question your trouble shooting, it's just that you seem to have everything checked and those scores suck. i know my asus bios settings needed to be tweaked after putting in my 6800gt.

Use Sandra to find out if your box is performing up to scratch at all - CPU, RAM, HD tests!
Play with the related bios settings - the A64 has a tight timing maybe it's stumbling somewhere.

Do you have any independent FPS counters, such as FRAPS, if so, unistall and delete folder, it messes with the 6800 series card gave me a score of around 8600~ in 3dmark03 with it installed with it installed and this is my system

A64 3400+
Abit kv8 pro
1GB Mushkin 3200
6800GT
Seagate 120GB 7,200rpm

now I get around 11,500 with it uninstalled. Don't bother with fraps if that is indeed the case, even the most recent version of fraps has the bug.

I too was getting around 20fps in Doom 3 before uninstallation.

I have the same cpu (fx-51), you should be getting 11-12K 3dmark 03, I really doubt its the ram..... I really dont know man.

I know you've said (repeatedly) that all the drivers are installed, but that doesn't mean they are all working properly. As several have pointed out, your scores sound reminiscent of missing/malfunctioning chipset drivers (i.e. AGP driver). If the latest NForce drivers from Nvidia are not doing it for you, try re-installing the older version that came bundled on the Asus CD. Also, you need to double-check that they are working by verifying the card is actually running at 8X AGP in windows (not sure where the GART settings are with latest Nvidia detonators graphics drivers, but they should be there somewhere) - Sandra will also tell you under video system info. Unless you verify that, you don't know if the chipset drivers are working properly.

Back On-topic: So you reinstalled XP. Did this include formatting the drive? did you make sure to reinstall ALL drivers: chipset, sound, video, CPU, etc.? I just reformatted my drive and forgot to reinstall my nForce3 drivers and my benchmark scores were cut in half...

im up with the RAM certainly not helping.....i have a second puter that my mum uses (P4 3ghz 800fsb, 80Gb 7,200rpm HDD, Radeon 9800XT) that got 6,5xx with 512Mb RAM, then when i added another 512Mb it rocketed up to 7,2xx (3dmark03 im talking here). Havnt gotten around to testing it with HL2 or Doom3 yet, but that might be cuz im happy on my PCI-E based puter of identical specs but with a 6800 GTO card o'c as in my sig....lol. That gets around 11,5xx on 3dmark03. Might have to try just 512Mb in the puter to see if it lowers the scores by much......

As for drivers and that sorta stuff im not that up on the knowledge, i just make sure my BIOS for puter is up to date and that im running the driver that gets me the better score/fps thats currently available.

My advice tho? go buy a Dell 🙂

edit: btw, im at work so dont ask me to post HL2 or Doom3 benchies cuz im at work and can never remember what they are, but the 3dmark scores stay in my head cuz i tested them so much when first o/c'ing the card...lol

I don't see it in your spec what are you running for a PSU?
On my original 350W antec I had the same problom I could not break 5K in 3dmark03 changed PSU to the OCZ 520 Jumped right to 11,400 with no O/C in 3dmark03.
P.S. you will get farther if you are civilized with people.

Right you are, that's definitely too low.
Seems you have tried mostly everything, almost seems like it has to be a hardware problem.
I'd still reformat, re-install everything using a proper order to driver install.

Install OS,
Windows updates
chipset/platform drivers
directx + video drivers
everything else

if you still do not get this sorted out, then something is defintely wrong either BIOS, or hardware related.

Yes, something is very wrong.

I know you've been very insistent that all your drivers are correctly installed, etc., but humor me for a moment.

Go to Start/"Run..." and run the program 'dxdiag' (don't type the quotes into the box). Under the "Display" tab, what does it show?

I can tell you exactly what it is...

It's fvcking Nvidia and their sh|tty drivers. Cause I've been experiencing some freaky performance sh|t since I did a reinstall with my new 6600GT.

RAM is still good enough not to get that crappy a score. Doom3 at max details isn't gonna happen since you need 512MB of video RAM for it. Try the one above Medium for 256MB cards and Medium for 128MB cards. HL2 score seems low for even 512MB of RAM, so that's not it.
