WTF?!?! Lightning just hit my neighbor's house!

And it's clear outside! A little cloudy but they are white clouds..... don't look like storm clouds. Anyway I was just sitting in front of my computer which is in front of my window and i was looking out and BAM. Lightning hit their metal patio. Scared the crap outta me. I coulda been fried. I had both hands on the keyboard. wtf?

The coolest lightning strike I have ever seen happened while on the road during a tornado warning. I was still in high school, and wanted to drive and see my girlfriend for the weekend. So I wasnt going to stop for anything. Anyway, about I am about 50 yards from a telephone pole when lightning hits the transformer up on the top. Sparks flew everywhere just like in the movies. Pretty sweet!

Or, at the least, raising the blinds all the way?



Something like, oh, I don't know, you're super-glued to your seat? Chained to the floor? Sitting on a bomb?

no point. there is nothing to see now. nothing caught on fire as far as i can tell.

closest lightening strike i ever saw happened just outside the window at work. man was it loud. everybody jumped, a few of the girls screamed, and it left my ears ringing. coolest thing was it hit a tree and sent pieces of wood flying. sure glad i wasn't standing outside at the time ... !

Obviously, the big cloud-to-ground lightning get all the chicks compared to the wussy cloud-to-cloud lightning.

I think when I was taking a car home from work last night about 11:30, lightning hit us too. Everything turned electric blue and there was thunder and our car felt like it jumped in the air.

Both the driver and I were shocked!

When we were living near the river lightning hit right next to our house. Like right next to it. We're not sure exactly what it hit -- could have been the giant Cottonwood tree or a telephone pole -- but it was probably less than 300 feet from the house proper and the thunder and the flash were at the exact same time. And this wasn't a small flash either; the only thing you could see out any window for a second was white-blue light. The sound was ludicrously loud. As soon as it hit every cat in the house ran and hid under something, and none of them came out for at least an hour or so.
