Still wont stop you from tanning. I used to use 80 spf block when working at a water park over the summer and I would turn black by the first month.

When I worked outside painting I didn't use any sunblock (not a good idea in retrospect). Usually there would be some shade but I'd always have to spend some time in the sun. I guess I have just enough ethnic in me, as I got tan but nothing serious. Though I did end up with some blatant tan lines.

Anyways, there's a difference between outdoor manual labor and a day at the beach. I reckon sunblock would be sufficient protection for casual beach outings. Plus, enjoying the elements is half the fun of going to the beach!

perhaps this is not understood by people who spend all their time in an office building, but some of us actually consider sitting exposed under 100* sun pretty fucking retarded. if i'm going to endure the sun, i'm actually going to be doing something fun (or making money).

And yes white skin in Asia is hotness. Dark skin means you're poor and been working in the rice fields all day. My mom til this day tries to cover herself when she drives so she doesnt tan.

in most cultures being light skinned means you were better off and wealthier. it means you could hire people to do the bullshit work in the sun that you didn't want to do, because you can afford it. the cheap day laborers are all dark because they work for jack shit doing stuff outside all day.

i'm guessing this has something to do w/it as far as it being looked down upon to be darker over there.

Ehh, the sun is fine when it's cool out, but when it's fvckin hot out, last place I want to be is in the sun. I especially hate it when I'm on vacation at the beach and there's no shade so the sand burns my feet.

I love the water, and can swim for hours on end, but I can't deal with being in the heat for very long. That said, I surprised myself last week, It was around 90 and decently humid and I walked around pretty much all day when at the Cayman Islands... I snorkeled in Cozumel, so heat wasn't too bad there, and climbed the Duns River Falls in Jamaica, so the heat wasn't too bad there either....
