I heard that line from my mother only about 2,000 times.:Q

Heck Aceman, I heard that about 3 times from you while we were riding over to the Dome

:Q

I'm going to vote for Coleman, though I think Welstone will win the election.

As far as governor goes....well, as long as it's not Jesse

Well, that's because my time in South Dakota and Nebraska flushed out a lot of the Minnesotan in me. I think you're gonna see Coleman sneak this election through. (I think Tim Penny (I) will take the governor's race.)

I have to worry more to convince my wife (The steel mill worker's daughter) to vote Republican again to make sure that Tim Johnson has to move back home. We need a couple common sense voices from South Dakota to override Daschle's ignorance and libreralism.

Wellstone may be a socialist, but at least he's predictable. Coleman is a weasel that can't be trusted.

Funny, Coleman talks like, and even looks a little bit like, a weasel. He was elected as mayor of St. Paul as a Democrat, and then right in the middle of his term, he officially became a Republican. He's the professional politician that can't be trusted. Sure, go ahead and elect him, he might even become a democrat again!

it's all crooked, anyone that'd spend $1,000,000 to get a under $100k a year job means they are looking at some kind of angle.

There is a measure on the ballot in california this election to try to get that allowed.
That's a really great idea.

I'm sure the Democrats will love it though. No longer will they need to have dead union workers vote. Now they will be able to go across to Tijuana, round up busloads full of "voters", bring them across, register them, "help" them vote for the correct candidate, then take them back across the border and give them a few bucks.

Yeah because rebuplicans would never do anything shady right?

I don't know of any times I've heard of Republicans rounding up the dead to vote for them. Then again there aren't too many Republicans in Chicago so that may be the reason....

Wow! I didn't know that other states don't. I never thought it was any big deal. For years, Minnesota has had one of the most sophisticated voter registration and verification systems in the nation. In fact, the last registration system was upgraded just last year to keep up with current technology.

I always figured that if I wanted to commit voter fraud, I would register through the mail, since you need ID, a current utility bill in your name, proof of eligibility, and all sorts of other crap to be allowed to register at the polling place.
Would you know offhand what would constitute 'proof of eligibility'?
The link posted by shinerburke indicated that you could just ride in, register and vote.
I can't imagine a state having laws that lax.

Yes these are true BUT he's not Wellstone. You need to remember that.

His campaign slogan could be...

NORM COLEMAN........................HE'S NOT WELLSTONE.

They could run a head of cabbage agaist wellstone and I would vote for the cabbage.

Why is it that Republicans are so overwhelmed with the thought of voter fraud?

Can't Republicans also get out there and do their own fradulent voting? Perhaps they're just not productive enough in *their* voter fraud? Perhaps you should just and grab more of your friends and cast lots of fraudulent votes. Whoever does better wins! Capitalism at it's best!

Also the Minnesota accent thing is just crap really. Sure there are a few norweigans right off the boat that speak like that, but most of us do not. The movie Fargo was soooo painful to watch. No one I know here speaks like that, outside of perhaps of some old fart living in some verrrry remote city no where near where I live. Then again, perhaps I do speak funny, but so do you...

Ever lived outside of Minnesota for any period of time and then move back? It's noticeable!

Are you married or date someone that is from another area of the country? Obviously you are not. My wife "corrects" my dialect every time she hears me "speak" Minnesotan. (It's quite often after being back in the state for 4 years)

I don't know if it is because I live in Michigan, but I always say: "You know what I mean?" when I tell someone something.

I am not a Republican and I'm not overwhelmed at anything.
I wanted to know what would be considered 'proof of eligibility' to register to vote in MN.

Actually no, so I imagine it's true to some extent, but geez we don't talk like "Fargo"

And who's to say that it isn't just everyone else that talks funny ? :)

The accent is noticeable. I've lived in the east and the south, and the Minnesota accent is for real. The movies blow it out of proportion, but it's there.
