ok, so i was playing half life 2, and all of a sudden i died. so i quit the game, but then all of a sudden my computer restarts for some reason... anyone know the reason for this??? and if i should be worried???

-thanks

cpu: 36 C
sys: 29
Vid card: 54 C

that is when comp is idle (not while playin games)

psu: raidmax 420 watt 🙁

Use RivaTuner to log the temperature for your graphics card. Next time you have a crash, you can open the log file and see what the temperature was right before the crash. That is the temperature that you want to know to find out if it is an overheating problem.

ok thanks... this is the first time it has happens... and i wanted to know what was the source so i can prevent it from happening again...

Do yourself a HUGE favor, replace that Garbage (RAIDMAX) before you have more problems. I've seen them die quite often on customer's computers. You don't want it to blow up and damage the rest of your nice parts.

Go to Newegg and pick up an Antec, Enermax, Thermaltake, Fortron, or Sparkle brand power supply and you'll be good to go 🙂

aye... could u recommend me a specific model??

also, as a cheap solution to cooling, i opened up a pci slot, and my temps dropped by 8C

damn, most of the psu's have an extra fan on top. 🙁 .. does that mean i have to cut an extra hole on top of my computer??

have a look at the screw holes on the picture [3 corners, and one under the switch], and see if they correspond to your psu

I was looking recently at TAGAN - 480w.

They seem to be getting excellent reviews, and are amongst the quietest.

I did have a link that i posted before where this psu and antec480 were reviewed together, the TAGAN came out top

have a look at the screws connecting your present psu - where are they, and where are the ones in the picture?
[only 4 screws]

i posted the two links of the psu's at hardforums and this is what one guy said:

"For a 6800GT + P4, you need a much stronger +12v rail than either of those supplies will muster. I'd suggest an Enermax of some sort"

is that true??
