WTF? Just got "caught" in some sort of automated speed trap

hey, I noticed these last weekend. saw one on maxome near Cummer Valley School
I freaked a bit @ first too, but managed to stay @ 46 (limit 40) you speeding bastard 😉 😛

i think it's just supposed to be an eye opener - it freaks you out.
& the sign says (watch your speed) they are trying to emphasize safer driving practices.

Here in Iowa those mobile speed traps usually have cameras in them. I personally got a ticket from one mounted on a freeway overpass on HWY30.

As for the license plate covers, they do not work. If the inspectors see a blured plate they look at the negative image. Take a photo of your plate covers and look at the negative, you will be amazed what you see...

Man, I wish I still lived in Texas. There you could pass law enforcemnt at 20mph+ over the limit and they would not flinch. Here in Iowa you get 5mph speeding tickets and the highest speed limit in the entire state is 65mph (limited access freeway only, most 55mph).

Those radar devices with display are excellent for checking the accuracy of your speedometer.

I now know when my speedometer reads 26 it's actually 25mph, at 52 it's really 50mph and 73 is actually 70mph (that also probably means my odometer is also about 4% off and I'll be through my new car warranty early).

You're most likely safe, around here they just park them &amp; leave them - no cameras or cops in sight.

It's more psychological than anything else, your instinct is to keep it under the speed limit &quot;just in case.&quot;

I think the point of them is to make you realize how easily you could be caught, not to actually catch you. People don't usually complain about something that does nothing but put up a number.
 
here are my thoughts. When ever I see these speeding detector, (i see them everywhere here in Pasadena) I slow down. Thats its purpose. It scares you thinking that there might be a camera attached or something, so you proceed to slow down. Unlike you or others, they proceeded to see how accurate it really was. To be honest, I thought that was just dumb of you. Leave it alone and hopefully there really wasn't a camera on that thing.

We have them in Massachusetts too. For all you &quot;speed-clockers&quot;; it just takes one Irate State Trooper to stop you from your blatent disregard for law enforcement. Those signs mostly go up when the local community complains about speeders; Traditionally in Mass. the clocker goes up for a month then it goes down and traffic returns to normal (speeding) then town revenue goes up because people never anticipated that the warning was just that a warning and run into the speed trap around the corner. 😀😀😀😀
