But you can't assume the MAC of someone who is on the network whilst they're currently connected, and when you restart your PC the MAC reverts to the factory-applied number. (not to say that I disagree with you)

what does that have to do with anything? i modded over 100 xboxs when i was in college and very few of the people i did it for (all friends) pirated anything. it saves you time and space by putting all of your games on it. maybe this was rare but i played on most of those xboxs years after i modded them and there still were no games on them that they didnt own. i also modded my own xbox and never pirated a game.

agreed. mac filtering is good, but you really need WPA to complete the package.
