I think a lot of it has to do with the old culture of uniformity and being a cog in a giant machine. Younger kids are rebelling against that and doing everything they can to stand out.

I agree with you. Of course, Japan is leading the way with effeminacy and metrosexuality. Expect to see more worldwide blurring of the lines of acceptable behavior and appearance between men and women.

I was going to say the same thing. W/ the emo and goth culture in the US and parts of Europe there are some really weird looking people all over the place. We just see a lot of Asians like this because there are billions of them so there would just be more pics surfacing from over there.
