Meh, this is quite normal regardless of where it's from. In fact, it's so normal that I have come a full 360 back to, "WTF Japan!"
 
its actually pretty neat imo. Genki Sudo, a legendary MMA fighter, did several of these in the past(i'm not sure if this is him though.)

meh, doesn't seem that odd either. We may associate that sound with other worldly stuff, but in the end it is just sound.
