WTF?? its illegal to sell tiny turtles in IL???

I just heard about this... I was planning to get 2 turtles for my GF, but i guess not...🙁

Now.. I have some connections .. and I guess I could get some thru "black market" in "china town" for about $30 each!!! WTF?!

is this true??? ?huh huh huh?!

dang dude.

Just go out to the local lake, and drag a net along the bottom. You can get them for free that way,

Turtles get Salmonella because they are messy eaters and all of the pellets you feed them - all of the little bits are growth sites of bacteria. These bits stick to the turtle shells etc. If you keep the tank clean, you have less to worry about, but as with any pet, wash your hands after you handle them before you rub your eyes, or eat food.

Or masturbate.

It's illegal to sell small ones because children have put them in their mouths before, but aside from that I have no clue.

I had one once too.. It was a baby snapping turtle.. I took it camping with me once, and it got away from me and ran straight into our fire. I couldn't get it out in time.. 🙁

Why would any living thing run into a fire? Don't turtles feel pain?

I honestly have no idea.. We were on a beach and I put him down about 5 foot from the fire and he took off after it. I caught him once, and moved him.. But he went straight for it again and got there before I could catch him.

And we're the ones blamed for their endangered status?

The fire was probably was in the way of the nearest path to water. Or, it just decided that to commit suicide in fiery inferno rather than being turtlenapped.

They can carry the bacteria but as long as you wash your hands after handing you should be OK.
