WTF is wrong with my installation of FireFox?

For some reason I can open any pop up windows with FireFox. The issue really affects me here on AnandTech. Whenever I try to check PMs, quote a post, or start a new topic nothing happens. I have checked all the popup settings that I know of and nothing helps. I have uninstalled FireFox and reinstalled, updated, etc to no avail.

If I do click on any of the buttons mentioned above and close FireFox the browser closes, but I can not reopen it until I go into the control panel and terminate it there.

Any ideas what the hell is happening? (I had to use IE to make this post and I hate IE).

ok, but you did not mention if you tried using a fresh new firefox profile.
or was that removed during the uninstall?

rename your old one here, and next time you start ff3 i think it will automatically create a new profile.

That worked, but I was hoping to not lose any of my settings. Any idea how I can fix the screwed up profile but retain all saved information?

Thanks, for the fix. 😛

well, i would suggest you slowly copy back all files from your old profile into your new profile, overwriting when needed.
maybe 10 files at a time, each time checking to see if the problem comes back.

you will probably then figure out which file is causing the problem.
perhaps its prefs.js or some installed extension, that even if disabled can still cause problems.

WTF is wrong with firefox period. I read they have all these great plug ins and as soon as you plug em in firefox downgrades you from normal mode to safe mode and actually removes normal mode from your pc.

Right now.. I am trying to figure out how to get back into normal mode. I unchecked plug ins but firefox forgets and keeps asking me.

This is total BS!
