I think HL sucks nuts and feel that CS was the most overrated game ever. it was nothing compared to unreal.

Everyone who was part of that bandwagon, I'd like to see you pwn with your keyboard + mouse now, running at 640x480 with barely 30fps and lockups and gfx hell...

I would just like to point out that I run Halo at 1280x1024x32 with AA and AF at 60+fps... and that was the BETA!

Get a clue.
yes, but...didn't the beta look like sh*t??? And the release version has everyone experiencing slowdowns unless they're on a 9800 or some Geforce4 derivative...

You are mistaken.

I bought an Xbox and halo when xboxes dropped to 199 and love it. i had the cash so i bought the pc port. I'm running it at 800x600 with NO stuttering. I can do 1024x768 if I tweak my video card setup, but thats no fun :)

It has never locked up on me in 10+ hours of gameplay. IF I knew how to show fps, i would.

Its also very beautiful in 4x AA.

Hmm...maybe I just have sour grapes. Time to upgrade the K7S5A mobo and the Radeon 8500 video card?

I have Halo on the PC as well and I get an avg of 50-60 fps @ 1024x768. I'm not talking about Time Demo which gear box stated was inaccurate to gauge FPS, I'm talking about displaying FPS in game via console. I get no slow down and I have all eye candy on and high. I'm even running pixel shader version 2.0.

System Specs:

Radeon 9700 Pro
P4 2.0a gig CPU
1 Gig 2700 DDR
Audigy Sound Card
Catalyst Drivers 3.7

P.S. Just looked at the E3 Video of Halo 2 and that good be the best game EVER made.

Apparently, as I read in other threads, having AA on doesn't matter in Halo (not featured). Just wanted to point out my mistake in thinking it stressed the game more.

I'm using an AMD XP Barton core @ 2.33 ghz with a radeon 9500 pro @ 366/306 and i cannot play it above 800x600 without it slowing down a lot in firefights.

Ok, I just installed it on my family PC which has a 9500 Pro and it runs smooth as butter. Let me give you the details on how I got it set up and maybe it will help you.

Family PC Specs:
P4 1.6a CPU
Radeon 9500 Pro
1 Gig 2100 DDR Ram
Audigy
Catalyst 3.7

I finally got some good performance with Halo under 800x600 and 1024x768 avg any where from 60-50 FPS and getting as high as 83+ at times.

My Specs:

P4 2.0a CPU
1 Gig 2700 DDR
Radeon 9700 Pro
Audigy
Catalyst 3.7

What I had to do:

1. Under XP display Settings, under direct3d tab, put the slider on balanced. On AA and AF select App Preference. On Text pref put it on high quality. Mipmap put on high quality. Wait for vertical sync should be put on always off. TruForm I put on App Preferece.

2. Under Halo, I have all options on high and turned on. I have NO VSYNC selected in Halo as well (but selecting VSYNC shouldn't be a problem). Refresh Rate is set to 70 or 85 if your monitor can handle it. The resolution in Halo you can start with either 800x600 or 1024x768. In Audio, I have High and Hardware Accelertaion on.

3. While playing Halo, access the console and type rasterizer_fps true

This will show you on the screen your FPS and the average. Don't use the TIMEDEMO as that is a complete waste. With these settings, I am playing with no slow downs and it looks silky smooth. Enjoy!
