The best thing to do now is to post here about it! :sneaky:

This symptom started only about a month ago and it's been consistent.

Every once in awhile, I get this sudden sharp jolt of a pain shooting up in left my calf bone(?) and up to the knee. The pain is great enough collapse my movement or standing up.

The pain is precise enough for me to know it's not muscle pain or anything 'flesh' related. It's acute, and quickly goes away after about 5 seconds. Then it's as if nothing happened. It's FEELS like receiving a jolt of electricity AND a piercing pain up the bone marrows.

It only happens in my left lower leg, and comes sporadically on any position (unlike the leg falling asleep). It happened twic today and few times last week.

I'm 29, not overweight, I run 4 mile races, do not smoke or do drugs.

muscle spasm. i dont care that you say its not muscle related

It's not a muscle cramp. I know that specific pain. I've NEVER had this type of pain before in my life (even when I was cross country team in HS).

It's sharp, quick (5 secs), then it disappears all on own. The pain rides up the frontal part of my lower leg bone- nothing to do with the muscle (rear calf muscles).

Shin splints.

Shin splints is an overall sore-like pain that persists at all times.

I have zero pain or restraint on my left leg even during heavy exercise. The jolt comes and goes like magic, and happens when I'm doing nothing.. And VERY seldomly (only happened like 5-6 instance of 5 seconds each in past month).

We're going to wind up taking that leg. It's too far gone.

Here is your best answer in all seriousness.

Go have it checked out by someone who can do a physical examination. I can speculate all day and I still would have nothing to go on.

Best 2 cents of today.

Well, that is given. I just wanted a quick shot in the dark right now.

Only time I've had pain similar to that was when I had a hairline fracture in my right humerus. Sharp, jolting pain in my arm that was significant to impair movement. Since you apparently run a lot, perhaps that (a hairline fracture) could be the issue?

What about a pinched nerve? Is there a particular motion that causes the symptom to occur?
