What's wrong?

Probably was spoiled by mommy and daddy and was never disciplined and just couldn't deal with her parents putting their foot down for the first time...especially since she could close her eyes and imagine herself already walking down the isle and living happily ever after with her first BF who has promised her everything...especially if she spreads her legs.

Sounds like typical suburban trash to me.

This is how messed up kids get, that were raised on Barney!

Honestly, while I'm sure a part of it can be attributed to brain chemistry being out of whack, or an excess of violence, the bottom line is that bad parenting will likely take the majority of blame in a lot of these cases. Let's face it, this girl likely thinks she's done nothing wrong in killing her family members. That can be traced back to a lack of morals being taught, and oftentimes the child being raised with the idea that they can do no wrong, that someone else is always to blame for anything that happens to them. I see this a lot these days, in the group hug "let's all hold hands and sing kumbya" world that children are being raised in. Instead of teaching them that life somtimes sucks, that not everyone wins, and that we're not all the same, it's easier to just let them believe that the world is just like Barney told them it was, and that they'll always be a winner.

And then we wonder why they snap and lose their minds when they find out the opposite is true?

Sorry for the rant, it just kills me the way I see kids being raised, especially when I never heard of this sort of thing happening when I grew up.

Bottom-line, today's kids are spoiled and have it waaaaaaaaay too easy. They "want" for nothing.

Then there was the article the other day blaming corporal punishment, and esp. spanking, for much of their troubles, and specifically for how young males physically mistreat their female counterparts.

I wish my old Industrial Arts teacher was still alive ... he'd thrash the livin' heck outta these punks.

I think parents are making their kids nuts. They want them to grow up and look cool for them and at the same time be just kids.

I tell you lot another thing. I work in a university and if I actually drive without swerving, I would probably hit a dozen of these kids a day. They have zero road sense. Or maybe they do and it's just "cool" to work at a snails pace across a street and force cars to slow down or even stop.

It is not about video games, it is not about violent movies or TV....I can show many cases of kids killing parents before any of this type of medium existed.

I just read the whole story about these punk kids, and since it happened in Texas, one of the leading states when it comes to capital punishment, hopefully they will be executed quickly and in the most demeaning and excruciatingly painful way possible. Unfortunately, current "methods" don't really fit that requirement so perhaps they oughta borrow a "method" from the Shawnee Indians ... the ol' "sit 'em on a sharp stake" method !!!

Not really. There was one in Alberta several months ago, very similar. Daughter is forced to break up with BF, comes home with him and murders whole family. She was a minor, but still convicted as an adult and looking at 25 years I think.

She only got 25 years? Is anyone else pissed off that a girl murdered her whole family and only got 25 years? That just seems insane to me...
