"No matter how much effort you put into perfecting the interior configurations of your self-built system, you could very well end up with a generic and bland off-the-shelf case that poorly reflects all your hard work. This results in you being stuck with a dull-looking system that lacks any sense of style and fails to catch anyone?s eye."

Don't know about you guys but i'm totally convinced.

Alienware does have some cool looking cases, but I think you could probobly find a nicer looking case.

Lian Li FTW!

Jediyoda is about as ignorant as it comes... so just ignore him.. he thinks he knows everything, but knows shockingly little... there are step by step guides to make computers nowadays.. it isn't hard at ALL!

Or if you are reeeally lazy, just use a system builder like http://www.jncs.com/ ... 1/5 the price, same parts...

I remember a few years ago only a small percentage of people could build their pcs, on these forums almost everybody built their own computer.

A lot of Alienware and other 'super gaming' rigs can be built for half the cost.

ok...do it....
Just as I thought you can`t!!

Also you do realize that Alienware tweaks the system above and beyond what most people could do!

hahahahahahahhahahahahha oh damn.

i loved poeple like you when i had my store. really i did.

I bet a good deal of people on ATOT can build something as good as Alienware for far cheaper. hell i know i could.

but don't get me wrong. i am not against them. they fill a good market. to people that want a fast top notch computer and who have the money to burn. to be honest if i had $5k to blow on one i might do it to save the trouble of ordering parts, put them together and hope part is not a RMA. blah.

but i would rather spend $2-3k and build it myself heh

ALL of Alienware and other 'super gaming' rigs can be built for a third ofthe cost.

Fixed.

Oh, yeah. I Lo-o-ove the way my piano-black ThermalTake Soprano looks. Especially in the dark, its interior lit up just faintly by the LEDs in the TT Blue Orb II CPU cooler.

That sounded... freaky.

I could make any system Alienware offers, cheaper. Everything except the customer support and the warranty. Even the system-restore software can be accomplished with something along the lines of Ghost or TrueImage.

yes voodoo and alienware do overprice their computer. OTOH, if you want conroe now, only Flacon Northwest and Velocity Micro offer systems. and frankly, even this $899 conroe based system outperforms most current computers with high end cpu's. stick in a better graphic card and you're set.

Too bad that computer isn't available yet! Their page says

"Order your new Velocity Micro Intel® Core? 2 Extreme or Intel® Core? 2 Duo processor-based system on July 27th ? Intel?s global launch day! " 🙂

Are Intel's price cuts July 27th too?

this is better.

lol, I know. I figured out my system would cost around $2500 if I bought it from them, it'll cost me less than half of that to build it myself, and honestly, what's more rewarding, a prebuilt system or one you built yourself.

personally, I think alienware's systems, even their "professional workstations" look like toys-r-us crud. No client who knew anything would take you seriously with one of those.

AMDs are on the 27th.

I actually went to new egg, and put in every part for a high end pc (i think it was the Falcon-NW Super rig - yes I was that bored one day) and the total per PC (w/out monitor) came to around 4.0k. The Falcon with 30in Monitor costs 7k.

So i guess per rig they make ~1k profit? That's pretty tidy, I wonder how many they sell a month.

I, and many other obsessive computer hardware enthusiasts like myself, could build PCs a lot better than Alienware systems for a lot less money that could be tweaked and overclocked much further.

Are you just a bitter Alienware owner trying to justify his being ripped-off, I mean, purchase?

OMGZ COOL LOOK!NG CASELLO!LO!!!1one

Because you actually need a brain to design/engineer a Ferrari and skills to put one together?

WTF is wrong w/ Alienware? Dell owns it. We don't like Dell. And we like doing things ourselves. The rest of the population would LOVE to have an Alienware even though they'll never push the computer that far.
