WTF is with the MBNA credit card????

rudder

Lifer
I got charged a $25 late fee. I paid the bill online several days before the due date. I come to find out it takes up to 5 days to get credited. WTF???? They are bastages. If I charge something with thier lame card it will go through instantly, but it takes 5 days to post a payment to them? It would have gotten there if I had mailed it. I am going to cut up the card, eat it, and mail them the results in a few days and tell them what I think of thier credit card. (not really but I am pissed, I am sure i can get this corrected but it is a pain in the neck.)

You're not alone. All my other credit card payments go through in one business day. MBNA takes their jolly old time and then penalizes you for their slack effort at processing your payment. As soon as I get my last statement from them, my MBNA card is getting cut up and thrown in the trash.

Call them up, be polite, and ask them to remove the charge. They should fix it for you, they have with me, twice. Stopped using the card because of this, though.

Reminds me of the cable company here before Time-Warner bought them. You got your bill, it was due in 10 days. The fine print said payments may take up to 10 days to process. So, how on earth do you get your payment there before being assessed at $10 late fee? I guess enuf people, including me, complained to the state PUC and AG's office cause they eventually stopped.

Did any of you MBNA creditcard holders get a notice of a lawsuit settlement? They are offering around $3.50 to settle some suit. I didn't send out my notice of settlement yet.

If you call them and talk nicely they should credit you the $25.

That's if you use MBNA's website for the online payment. Americans can do this. MBNA's Canadian customers are out of luck and are at the mercy of MBNA's slow processing of payments via chartered banks. I forgot about this. For future reference, if you want to make payments closer to the day of the due date, you should use (if possible) the MBNA website.

I've got two and I love 'em.

Was late once. Sent payment two days before the due date (my bad) and they posted it two days after the due date. Charged me a late fee.

I called them and they reversed the charge.

Then again, the two cards I have are Platinum. That shouldn't make a difference, should it?

they have great real-time update of charges though. unlike att universal and citibank that take over a week to show the charges online.

I've never used my MBNA card. I honestly don't know how I got it. Some guy just called me up one day and asked me if this was my address, phone number, SIN number, etc etc... I had no idea who this guy was, and started to get scared, then he said "Your credit card is on it's way"... I just said okay...

I just keep it around in case of an emergency.

<< mbna sucks. they didn't resolve a dispute in my favor. i was scammed and they didn't do sh*t. >>

Did you fill out the paper work on the back of the statement or did you just call them.

Any dispute, regardless of CC company, has to be made in writing.

I used MBNA's online system, and I live in the good ol' US. I got shafted. it takes at least 5 days to process. I would have paid off the card and cut it in half, but now I have this damn charge. I will call and try to get it reversed. I will be nice at first.

Maybe they have had tons of complaints and changed it. This was on last months statement so I will check out thier website.

Changed it recently? I don't think so. I've used it as recently as two months ago and as long ago as two years ago and my payment posted in one day. I've only used it when I know that mailing in payment is going to be late and it's never failed me. 😉
