I used to get the 1 gallon milks at Sams until I started noticing that their would be a white film that would form on the surface of the milk...

Nasty

Try organic. It lasts longer plus does not have animal growth hormones.

Put a silver dollar in the bottom, it kills bacteria.

This sounds like a moronic urban legend to me.

more info

but does a silver dollar actually have silver in it?

If it's a silver dollar, it does. Not all dollar coins are silver dollars.

The milk was probably not kept at a low enough temperature somewhere along the line. What type of store did you buy it from?

Yeah, I used to work in a grocery store with a dairy section in it.

I did that too

I long for those days of simplicity...looking both ways and slurping down a chocolate milk pint while making $3.85 an hour and being happy about it

we would also meow from inside the cooler when old ladies would get their milk...fun!

I've never had a problem with milk going bad.. milk in our fridge will stay fine many days passed the expiration date.

Perhaps your grocery store doesen't keep the milk cold enough.

Our fridge is around 35ºF.

Silver is antibacterial.

So going by this, if you swab a Silver Dollar and put the contents of the swab in a petri dish, there should be no aggegrate growth of bacteria? In other words a silver dollar has no bacteria on it?

I say BS.
