WTF is up with EverQuest? It's impossible!

So I start playing EverQuest for the first time, I'm a High Elf. So, I take a look at my items, oh look three scrolls. I discovered two of them were spells, so put them in that spell book thingy. The third scroll, when I right click on it, says to give it to some guy named BlazeToss and he'll help me with my training. There is no hint given as to where he might be or how to go about finding him. So I wander the world of EverQuest forever trying to find this one guy. Never can find him. I ask about a million people, no one knows where to find him/who i'm talking about.

Y'know, when I bought this game people warned me that it's extremely addictive. I can't stand to play the damned thing for more than 30 mins, because everytime I try, this is what I end up doing-wandering around like an idiot, completely lost in a maze, unable to find some dude who I'm not even positive I should be looking for, or why.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction here? I'm tired of paying $10 a month for a game that I can't even get started in.

www.stratics.com

just go to their eq section, im sure they have one.
i used them for uo, there isnt a website on the planet that is as detailed as stratics when it comes to games. it's incredible some of the things they have for uo. damage tables, items, all types of crazy stuff that no one else could even begin to figure out. if stratics doesnt have it no one does ;)

There are 2 or 3 zones in Felwithe, and some secret walls too, I think. Be careful, often times groups of super (bad guys/double crossers) live in secret areas within the "Good" cities. Just starting EQ was incredibly frustrating for me. But you will find the guy, or get help from someone in game...ask other low level high elves you same class.

Well, I used Glen's map, and got to the Wizard's Guild using it. Seems like that's where I would want to go considering I am a wizard and am looking for a master wizard. And wouldn't you know it, I still can't find the fvcker. Screw this I'm going to bed. ;)

Thanks for the suggestions though.

50+ game is boring too. Buff for an hour or two to go kill one uber mob. Yeah, reeeal fun.

As for the guildmaster you're looking for... he's there. Sounds like you just don't have the patience to play EQ. It's not for everybody, but it's definitely not a difficult game. The first time i played it, i didn't even use the manual or tutorial... i was in such a rush i just popped it in. Gave it to my little brother too, who was like 13-14 at the time, and he learned it without the manual as well.

Sounds like you need a more braindead game. Try RTCW or Ghost Recon... both great games.

Ugh...enough of the stupid nicknames for the game...they're not funny.:disgust: Anytime I try to start a thread about EverQuest I get a million replies: "Why are you playing EverSmack? That game sucks, don't play it."

The reason everquest and its ilk suck is because they are based on character level. Unlike games such as UO. A player has no chance of killing a 16 level creature until they have reached a certain amount of XP. A game like Uo allowed a character to be smart and kill creatures much more powerful by using stealth, cunning, and trickery.
Thats what makes a game fun.

Quite frankly why would you want to learn this? When these people said its addictive they meant like a drug. You should be glad the game is "impossible", because trust me when I say that once you get into it it will suck your free time up like a machine and enter other parts of your life as well. EQ = bad.

How long have you been trying to figure out the easiest damn part of the game? 2, 3 weeks? The game is not that complicated, ESPECIALLY before you hit level 2! I thought by now you'd be complaining about leveling or something, but you can't even find the freaking guildmaster. Maybe you could take up a new hobby, like knitting or something

After playing UO for 4 years ( started right after beta testing ended), I decided to try Everquest. I've never really been able to get into it. I don't like how EQ is all based on fighting. In UO, you could make money with various skills (mining, thieving, looting) and then use that money to train up your fighting skills. I started UO as a miner, where my uncle introduced me to the world, and then everything evolved. In EQ, I got up to level 30 Cleric before I cancelled my account; it was too bleedy boring! Atleast in UO, you could be a level 20 provoke/musician and kill collectors (big ass dudes that spawn in lvl 3 hyth & tyrth keep - they kill you in one hit usually) all day long; you have to know what you're doing and be able to run like a mofo though. When the stealth skill was intoduced into UO (once a person was hidden, he/she could attempt to stealth and if successful they could walk 2-20 steps while staying completely hidden), all havok broke loose when people began to loot houses. I know, I made quite a fortune doing that. You would hide on a persons doorstep, as soon as they recalled in and opened the door, you would follow behind them. Once in the house, you just kinda layed low for an hour or so. Then, you made a gate to allow 1-3 of your buddies into the house to crate EVERYTHING off (I mean everything, including food, to piss em off).

Ok, so that's a good story. But, atleast in UO, you could be a person and have a trade. One account in UO can have 5 chacters. If you choose your skills closely, you could depend on yourself for everything that you need. At that point, you would only have to visit town to buy regs and bank.

Ugh...people like you need a life. I feel sorry for you if you feel some superiority over me due to my difficulty with a videogame you found easy. I have a life outside of EverQuest, outside of the internet, outside of the computer. Therefore, some aspects of the computer might not come to me easily, I.E. gaming in EverQuest.

I'm not gonna go into some big long rant, I'll just have you know that you sound like that character in the SNL sketch "Your Company's Computer Guy." You need to make the separation between videogames and real life. I'm really good at some things in real life, such as music, which I'm pretty sure is where my life is heading. If you enjoy videogames and are good at them, that's fine, but don't forget there's a whole world out there of people who are not like you.

LOL, I don't play EQ. I don't think they designed THE BEGINNING OF THE GAME, which takes 10 minutes to "conquer" for computer geeks and techheads only. It is really not that complicated. I'm sure the 800 thousand people or whatever the total is now that play EQ aren't thinking that finding the trainer is that hard. Just because you're too simple to figure out an easy damn thing doesn't mean that I have no life. I have a brain.

Sephy, you've never met someone who isn't good at videogames? If so, then you need to get out more. Childish insults are not necessary. Hey, I can't whistle either, guess I'm just a useless fvck.

I enjoy videogames personally, but I'm not very good at them. I'm a musician, and musicians don't seem accomodated to this stuff much, I'm unusual as it is. ;)

Just grow up man, that's all I'm saying. You keep tossing around "slams" that sound they like came out of Full House, and I'm not impressed.

I'm not trying to insult you, I just find it terribly odd that someone of your intellect(most people around here are pretty smart) cannot figure out something in a game thats supposed to take 5 minutes. It's hardly impossible.
