WTF is this thing???

Hey all,

I changed my avatar photo so people could see what I'm asking about, not sure if photos can be posted in the forums so this is the best I could do.

This came along with my Galaxy Tab 4...and I have no idea what it is! I even called 'Naked Mobile' and they didn't know either. It's strange because it has a USB cable not designed for a tablet, and when I tried plugging it into my computer it crashed! Can anyone let me know what the hell this thing is??

It looks like a portable USB powered speaker, but it's hard to tell from the picture.

At first I thought it might be a USB WiFi adapter/modem or hotspot, but I've never seen a design like that.

This, it's not rocket science.

1) Who is the manufacturer, model #, etc.? Might be printed on the bottom or back.
2) Use a free image host like www.imgur.com upload the picture then post the URL here.
3) ....
4) profit?

Some sort of promotional phone holder/charging station, that a business adds their logo to as a giveaway. I was wondering how in hell it could possibly charge something (looks way to cheap/flimsy to be wireless) until I read one of the comments:

"Was a bit disappointed that you couldnot just place your phone on the dock to charge. There is a USB port on the other side not shown that you have to plug your cord into and into your phone in order to charge. It is more like a charging extension cord than dock."

So does it have a USB port on the side of it?

If so, that's probably what it is. I assume the surface is 'grabby' to hold a phone?

Personally, whatever it is I'd toss it in the recycle bin as rubbish, but that's just me.

I thought it might have been a speaker as well, but it is very thin and flimsy...plus there is no way to connect it to the tablet it's a regular USB plug.

That is just it. It has no markings or writing on it whatsoever, only 'Naked Mobile'. It didn't come with any packaging either. If I simply could have looked it up that way I wouldn't have bothered asking in the forums.

Thank you, that is exactly what I have, just a different color. Grabby surface and USB port just as pictured. Seems incredibly pointless based on how it works, so yes I think it will get placed in the trash. Thought it might have had some real purpose.

You use an image host like someone else posted, then once you have the URL you can post it here.

Ah, OK. Sorry for my ignorance but I've never used an image hosting site before. My impression is that a link would be posted rather than an actual photo. Good to know, thanks for the info.

You use image tags to post an image inline

[img]www.imagehost.com/myimage.jpg[/img]

You need to upload it first. That's it. To a site like imgur. As has been suggested by others.

You've shown that's not true a few times already. I'm not trying to discourage you from asking questions, I'm just pushing (less kindly than I could, I admit) toward not asking BASIC questions that are easily searched. Like your tablet specs, or the difference between unlocking and rooting.
