Actually a good prank would be to get the shipping info so you could report him. Then send him a box with something for weight like a few old magazines and a healthy helping of dog poo plus a few dozen live grasshoppers. He will more than likely be inside when he opens it, and so will the grasshoppers.

It's funny how he writes letters... In a funny way... I'd just not respond the email.

That guy problem spammed every PS2 seller on ebay and is probably hoping for just one guy to do it.

I just sent him a response. Not sure how or even if he's going to reply, but I'll make sure to post it back here when/if I get it.
Now I just need to think of something interesting to send him ;)

Here's my response:

Arati,
I'm sorry to hear about your cousin, your email really touched my heart.
It's nice to know that you would do such a kind thing for him, he must
really mean a lot to you. I'll see what I can do to get your cousin what he
would like. Though it might not be my whole PS2 package I have up for
auction it will be something I'm sure your cousin will have fun with.
If you have any more information on your cousin I'd greatly appreciate it.
I'm not exactly sure what kind of cancer that is but maybe I can help find a
doctor for him or something.

Please let me know if you're still interested in this for your cousin. I'd
really like to help both him and you out.

Thank you,
Travis

Write back,

I would be ecstatically pleased and generally happy to provide this loving and wonderful gift to this mature child to enjoy in his last moments of life. For tax reasons I will need your full name, SSN, bank account numbers, mothers maiden name and credit card numbers with expiration dates for each credit card you own. You confidentiality is guaranteed.

If he bothers to reply with that info paste it in a file and share it on Kazza.

I have this uhh.... "condition". The doctors have said that I have a 100% chance of dieing and noone can tell me how long I have to live. Apparantly there is no cure for this "condition" as it always ends up in death. From what I've read it has to do with either a gas in the air or some liquid that's in the lakes and streams.

Wanna fork your^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hdonate your system my way and I'll try and enjoy it? :)

How many times does he have to use the word remain? Yeesh.

If this email was graded by an English/Grammar teacher, then he would have so much crap get cut out...way too many excessive words.

It's a scam. Found this version of the letter from 2000 where the person is trying to get someone to donate a Sega Genesis!

From: "Arati M. Jambotkar" <aratimj@juno.com>

Greetings! I recently viewed your immensely impressive Sega Genesis
system with games upon the Ebay auction block. Initially, please
allow
me to introduce myself; I, Arati Jambotkar, currently am a second-year
student at the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League school in
Philadelphia. However, I currently am residing within my hometown of
LaPlace, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans, due to a required
temporary
medical leave of absence.

The impending reason as to why I currently am addressing you remains
that
my younger cousin Mithun, who tragically became diagnosed with
lymphocytic leukemia almost five years ago, is ecstatically
celebrating
his sixteenth birthday this year (SIDE NOTE: This remains a
thoroughly
shocking phenomenon due to the fact that a plethora of doctors
formerly
predicted that Mithun would fail to live past the age of fifteen).
You
see, Mithun remains the #1 fan of video game systems; more than
anything
within this entire world, I would love to deliver to him various
minuscule and fairly inexpensive former, slightly used video game
system
for this truly memorable occasion. Unfortunately, due to enormous
tuition fees, etc., I remain thoroughly unable to purchase these items
for this truly courageous and spirited soul known as my cousin. What
makes matters worse is the fact that Make-a-Wish Foundation remains
unable to assist Mithun in this request due to the fact that his
cancer
has not been deemed within the "terminal phase" yet.

Therefore, since I recently viewed your fairly inexpensive auction
upon
the Ebay auction block, I currently am wondering as to whether or not
you
may remain willing to donate perhaps one inexpensive Genesis console
and/or game to this truly noteworthy cause (i.e. whatever you remain
willing and able to spare shall be much appreciated). Unfortunately,
I
remain truly sorry and rather embarrassed to state that I do not
remain
within the position to provide you with anything in exchange except
for
utter devotion to promoting your website and Ebay sales to my numerous
relatives, acquaintances, and friends at the University of
Pennsylvania
and at various other nationwide colleges. In addition, I can promise
you
that this magnanimous act will provide you with the genuine
heart-warming
satisfaction of realizing that you are assisting a cancerous child...I
know for a fact that Mithun wishes for this particular item more than
anything else in the world!

Please respond ASAP at either this address (i.e. "aratimj@juno.com")
in
regards to your thoughts concerning this matter within an utterly
positive sense, and I sincerely anticipate hearing from you soon!
Once
again, I genuinely appreciate your immense assistance, understanding,
and
cooperation in advance.

Sincerely,
Arati Jambotkar

He goes to college and cannot afford a PS2 for a lousy $200? He probably has a mean Cocain addiction. Go to the pet store and buy as many grasshoppers as you can and send him them LOL.... what a good one.

I wonder where you get the idea that college all college students should have $200 lying around for a gaming console.

Easy answer:

Tell the guy/gal to pay for your plane ticket so that you can give it to the kid in person.
