Try cleaning the dust bunnies out of your hsf, check your temps to see if the card is running hot. As was just mentioned a dying card can produce some strange behavior.

happens when im gaming sometimes, when it does happen it happens every 20 min or so. and then some days it never happens. im running newer drivers whatever is on nvidias site now, cleaned the old ones with driver sweaper before i installed these. still happens

cards (GTX 285) not over heating ive never seen it over 80C
Try to under-clock the card a bit and see if it helps. Try it again on another PC and see if this still happens. The fact that it has NOT hit 80c seems to be a problem as the card runs pretty hot on stock HSF.

80c is fine. Mine would run 85 in SLI and had no issues.

i'm still getting plenty of driver crashes with a 1 month old card from BFG rma 9800gtx+. tried the 196.21 and 197.13 drivers after removing the 196.75 card killer. (oddly 196.75 was more stable)

i never had any issues with my 8800gts 512 on 175.16

I ran into this problem when I upgraded to windows 7, I thought that it was the card, and even swapped out my 280 gtx for a 8800gts and still had the problem, driver rollbacks did almost nothing. I was getting the error every 5 minutes when I was in a 3d game. Here is what my problem ended up being:

I had a bad stick of ram, if you are running multiple sticks try removing one of them and see if it goes away. When I wasn't getting the error, the screens were showing artifacts which made me think that it was the video card. I hope this helps, I literally tried everything I could think of over a course of 3 weeks.
