WTF, is there any point in buying decent earbuds?

They always die within about 6 weeks, drives me freaking crazy. You would think earphones that cost ~$100 or more would last a little longer, but no, same old bullshit.

I swear this is the sixth pair in a row, maybe more, that has decided to only put audio through one ear after about 4-6 months of use. Waste of fucking money I guess.

It seems the only ones that work forever are the crappy cheap ass ones that hurt your ears.

my favorite buds so far have been a pair of JVC's from Walmart. $20, sounds was pretty decent and I didn't get pissed when I shut them in my car door.

I'm still using the stock ones that came with my Vibrant for now. We'll see how long these ones last.

I have a pair of headphones from 1980 that sound/work great, I'm not too fond of earbuds.

I bought a pair of $20 earbuds back in July and they've been absolutely rock solid. I use them through my entire 12 hour shift.

price != quality

I'm going through the same thing today. For awhile every time mine broke I would get more expensive ones, but after $150 ones lasted the same time I gave up and started buying $30-40 ones again.
Note: i have 4-5 pairs with lifetime warranties, just too lazy to send them back

warranty?

Not that I'm aware of. Besides, what do I do, wait another 6-8 weeks for them to send me repaired ones? I use my earbuds every freaking day.

Apparently so.

I don't like things over/in my ears, but on the rare occasions I need something, I pull a set from a drawer, and they always work. They're various cheap buds that came with the mp3 player.

You run, don't you? Are you finding that your earbuds die because sweat ruins them?

My girlfriend went through earbuds nearly monthly before she bought earbuds that are supposedly "sweat-proof": the Sennheiser PMX 80 SPORT II. Also has a two year warranty.

Heh, I've had two pairs of Sennheisers die in a row. I do run, but I'm not a huge sweater, so I can't imagine that's the problem.

The last ones that died were the MX85s, but the ones that died today were the CX680i Sport earbuds. D:

This December I will have had my UE10 pros for five years. Custom molds FTW. Very comfortable, unsurpassed isolation and fidelity. My use is mixed - on and off stage, working out both dancing and jogging. Even had them in the rain. :D

If I send you pictures of my ears and $200 can you make me some? :hmm:

For earbuds that are ~$100 or more I would think that they'd still be covered by a warranty after only 6 weeks unless you're just exaggerating. I know the headphones that I have bought from Sennheiser & Audio Technica for around that much or more had a year or more worth of warranty.

Huh, the $10 Sony ones sound great.

Not as great as my $300 Etymotics but fairly close. o_O

My Shure SE210s (or whatever they are, 200-series) are two years old and going strong.

My previous pair, Shure E2C iirc, lasted quite a few years but the plug started going bad.

I loved a pair of Sennheiser's I had before that, but one of the earbuds got crushed.

And basically all earphones I ever had were used basically daily. Now my Shure's don't get used as much now that I graduated, but I will use them for running.

Exaggeration, it's probably closer to 8 or 9 weeks. I guess I should pull out all of the warranty BS.

Edit: just looked it up, it was ~ 7 weeks.
