WTF is the point of nostril hair?

No it doesn't filter crap. I can't stand this growth, even when I trim it down to skin, I see ZERO difference in my breathing or any change in my life.

As I get older, they grow thicker and fuller. I've developed a nasty habit of wanting to yank them out and keep touching them until I go home and mow it all with the nose hair trimmer.

it SUPPOSEDLY traps dust and junk before getting in your sinus cavity, which SUPPOSEDLY also traps junk with its hairs to protect your lungs.

Trust me, if you've ever had dust in your lungs, you'd appreciate the pain and anxiety. It sucks ass.

It does make some difference in how much gets filtered, but mostly I think it's just a side effect of the same hormonal changes that make hair come out of our faces and legs.

Yeah, they don't really filter out anything.

Speaking of which, how come human hasn't evolved out of the need for nostril hair?

It does filter air, more than you would think. Your nasal mucous has the ability to coat each individual hair and when present, greatly increases the surface area of mucous present to contact incoming air. With no nasal hair, the filtering ability is limited to the mucous on the skin inside the nostrils alone.

The other function is readily display the advanced age of the bearer of said nostril hair and make him/here unattractive to the opposite sex.

If we did not trim them, they would do a good job of filtering, but we don't allow them to grow.

Humans couldn't have evolved from monkeys. This is a known fact. How can a monkey evolve over millions of years to a human? Monkeys don't live that long...

Atheists = -2.

i hate it when other people have really long nose hair and you just want to hold them down and rip them out with a pair of pliers just because when they breathe the hairs sway in the breeze.

mine i just yank out.

Man that crap grows fast. It's like I trim it down to nothing yesterday and it's already itching the inside of my nose a week later.

They need to make a tiny Gillette style razor for nose hair shaving. I don't care for the electric ones and having to stick a small pair of scissors up there is annoying. Hairs always get missed and start itching or stick out of my nose.

I've actually wondered the same thing about butt hair. What is the evolutionary advantage of having butt hair?

nostril hair = cocaine filter

Not at all. The hair keeps the stuff laying around longer, kind of like an aftertaste. A sweet, narcotics laced, multi-hour long aftertaste that leaves your day in bliss. It just melts in your nose.

Well I have the bad habit of pulling out most of my nose hairs which I have to do every few weeks or so. This has nothing to do with appearance but because my nose hairs have thick roots are are especially irritating.
