Half the bars around here have gone a tapas kick....

Dude, first off, I'm gonna eat before I go out drinking.

I don't need you pushing 3 olives, a piece of goat cheese, and a cracker
in my face for $5.95

thanks.

There's this place in Barcelona, close to La Rambla, that serves tapas and sangria at night. It's awesome!
You get a paper map with pictures of the tapas you want to eat, and you just circle them with a pen or point out to a waiter.
As much as we travelled throughout Spain, we couldn't find a better place.

The real problem is that when someone says "Want to go to a tapas bar?" I hear "Want to go to a TOPLESS bar?"

They are small dishes, so not super popular with american pigs that want a 2/3 pound bacon double cheeseburger for $5.

Ooooh, which one?

For the record, I LOVE tapas. It gives you the chances to try many different things rather than having one large steak, piece of fish, etc.

Tapa is spanish for appetizer.

Yeah but aren't they usually free in Spanish bars?

no.

Tapas is often used instead of dinner if you order enough, or as an appetizer if you just order a few.

Personally I really enjoy beeing able to eget lots of different small dishes, so I can taste lots of different goodies.

Not really. I lived in Spain a short time and they would bring out some appetizers to your table. If you ate them you were charged for them. They did this in Portugal to. But basically theres a section on the menu for tapas just like we have a section on our menus for appetizers.
