It's not what they do, the act is just a side show, their main reason for being is musical. You can see them at the Luxor. Think of Stomp, and similar musical genre.

EDIT: IMO, they're bad asses.

I saw them on Leno once.

They were badass.

Why?
Wat do they do?
They play instruments and dance around. It was a good show, the music had a lot of energy.

Eh, go see a Slipknot concert if you want strange.

Lol, I wish I could understand what people see in them. Although I definately do not "like" all forms of music, I do try and appreciate the talent and effort that has been put into it. Whether you like rap or not, there are some great beats to them and I respect that. This whole goth rock, gory, scream like a monster genre is just too fvcking stupid and corny for me to appreciate though, no matter how hard I try. My brother used to have one of their CD's, but thank god he has moved past that.

I know what you're saying. I went and saw them a few years ago and I wasn't a fan then. The show sucked me in though. As long as you don't really hate their music I suggest you go see one of their concerts. You still might not like them but I guarantee it will be one of the best concerts you'll see.

As far as their music type... eh, all genres have their places. If you need some music to pump you up you really can't beat it.

I agree. I saw them at the Luxor in Vegas, and they were amazing. Music + comedy + performance art + weirdness + audience participation + talent = excellence.

I'll give anything a try, but I doubt they will be making any trips to Ruston, Louisiana. :p

As much as I try to be open minded, I really have my doubts I will ever like it. Hell, I went to a Flaw concert last year and it was the same sh!t. The guy gets on stage, screams and tries to talk like a monster (that deep, growling, scary voice that they all do), and basically try and pass himself off as this uber badass in front of a bunch of wimpy goth kids and I assume this somehow makes them feel tough. I can only imagine Slipknot, with their bigger budget and cheesy masks would be much, much worse.

SPOILERS FROM THE SHOW

I would catagorize Blue Man Group as Industral. The main goal is to overstimulate you, forcing you to read 3 boards at once, etc.. The benefit of seeing them live is to see live audience reaction.. They say on the tickets please don't come late, some yuppie way in the back comes in while they're in a middle of a skit. Suddenly klaxxon alarms go off, a screen comes down with video from a blueman w/ a camcorder showing the poor fools as the walk to their seats, followed by a karaoke style chastising from the audience. :D

The playbill was interesting, talking about the philosphy behind it. I live in Chicago, one of their man areas. (They hace different blue man troops btw.) If you like improv, like second city etc., see blue man. Escpecially if you like drumming (99% of the show)

As for the spoilers, the card act I saw from one of their commericals.

I didn't like the complex CD I got.. If you have surround, definetly go for the DVD.

I saw the blue man group show in Vegas. Biggest waste of $90. It was terrible. Me and my friends did not find it funny at all and it was not entertaining. But i guess thats just us...

I saw BMG when i was in Middle school, now 23, and they were off off broadway and nobody had ever heard of them. I thought they were a lot of fun, but maybe thats cause i was a lot younger. We only paid like $15 a ticket, that coulda helped too.

I have seen BMG 3 times in NYC, 1 time in Las Vegas, and another time during their new CD concert tour.

I have a poster in my room, a picture of me with one of them, a shirt, and one of them even talked to me!!

BMG has to be one of the best shows I have seen in a very long time and I can't wait to go again!! Their music is great and the humor has me laughing so hard every time I see them.

Saw them about a year ago on my hooneymoon at the Luxor. Sure glad I didn't pay for those tickets. The show was mildly entertaining b/c I've seen them do cool stuff on Leno, etc. After about 15 minutes, that feeling wore off and I was left bored. To be honest, I would never pay for that show again. I saw Penn and Teller the night before and would reccomend that way before I recommended Blue Man Group. It was just boring, overpriced, and not as good as their appearances on late night TV have lead you to believe.

I've seen them half a dozen times, great act. Near the end they do a bit where they spit paint onto a spinning canvas; my stepmom bought me one after a show she saw for my birthday this year.

I think that anyone who doesn't get it, hasn't seen it.

I took my 12yo last year at the Luxor. (The Luxor's only redeeming quality, IMHO.) Friggin awesome.

My father-in-law bought the DVD. :D

Saw them in NYC. They never speak yet they still crack people up. Kind of a throw back to the old Charlie Chaplain movies. Didn't you ever see the pentium commercials a while back? There was always the dumb one that would copy the others and screw something up, lol. Another cool thing about their show if you go see it, is they pull people out of the audience and incorporate them into the show. It was really cool.
