That's exactly what's going on (read the previous threads on Quizno's)... franchisees are being raped by upfront costs, dilution of their market by overbuilding of Quizno's stores, and raped by corporate on cost of goods.

So yeah... they'll be a little pissed when they have to lose even more money from coupons they didn't advertise or even agree to support.

which is better ?

a. customer with coupon

b. no customer

I'll stay away if that's what the owners prefer.

I'm sure the owners would prefer you stay a customer. But I don't blame them for being angry that the corporation hands out coupons like candy for which the franchise owner has to eat the cost.

What's the value of the coupons, anyway?

I can get an entire meal for 2 bucks. If I was homeless I would be there every damn day.

Blame the Quizno's corporate. They are trying to increase sales (increasing their own revenue) and passing on the cost to the Franchises. Accepting any coupon (in a franchisee world) is upto that individual franchise. Does the coupon says "valid at participating locations only" clause ?

The corporate must consult with their franchisees before sending out mass coupons.

Which is better ?

a. customer with coupon eating 4 dollars in materials ( + operating costs) for 2.00 because corporate (which is reaming you on the cost of everything else) gave them a coupon

b. no customer 0 dollars spent for 0 dollars spent + operating costs

If that is the case, I'd imagine the owner -would- prefer you stayed away. As counterintuitive as that is..

I've never had a problem with them. I've printed them out multiple times for co-workers and we've all gone in together and used them. Even though sometimes they say "Hi Mike," on them and we're not all named Mike. But they don't seem to care.

Same here... except on classic Italians. I get one pretty much every day.

I think Quiznos is severly overrated.
I had the ultimate italian sub the other night. While it was not as bad as the other subs I had at Quiznos it was not worth the $8 for the cost of a regular size.

For that prices I can get a whole grinder from Zero's with a order of onion rings. And that's a better sub.

I never eat at quiznos unless someone else is paying - the ones around here are no better than a couple of the subways around me (that actually put a decent meat/toppings portion on the sammich). But subway never given me a problem with coupons unless its some NEWB at the register that doesnt know how to discount properly. I miss the old day of subway stamps and using those...i'd usually end up paying $1 or just get my samich + drink for free :D

My friends and I went to a Quiznos for lunch and one of them happened to have a coupon which had cumulative savings (i.e. after first visit the cashier checks off the 2nd coupon to verify you can use it and after 2nd visit you can use the third coupon).

So to save time, we ordered together and asked the lady if we could just ring up all the items w/ the coupons since we had over 3 different orders from more than 3 people. The lady fussed about it saying "2nd visit, 3rd visit" and that us purchasing it is "first visit".

Still following?

We tell them its pretty stupid to have 1 person order, have them check the coupon for 2nd visit, pass it to another friend and have him use the coupon and check coupon #3 for another friend to use. BLah blah blah, supervisor comes over, we debate the definition of "visit". 5 min later they let us use the coupons. Needless to say, we can't show our faces in that store ever again fearing what they might put in our food (spit, fecal matter....).

Quiznos sandwiches > Subways - but the employees sure are stupid

Well, it probably has something to do with the Quiznos corporation making all the franchises bend over. The franchises suffer from discounts while the head corporation doesn't care if a store closes or not. http://www.toastedsubs.info/

:Q that's a damning site

I was in Quiznos today and this guy used a coupon, the manager/owner kinda gave him a dirty look. Then the dude was like, oh wait, I got another for $2 off and tried to stack (dude must have been a FW'er). The manager basically told him to get the F outta there.

EDIT: Come to think of it, the manager/owner gave me a dirty look when I redeemed my frequent sub card. Didnt even cover the cost of the sub, just $5 off. I think the manager must be the owner...acts like customers are taking money straight out of his pocket when customers do their promotions.

Sounds like the manager at the one near me.

Coupon was for "free sandwich with any combo". After he overcharged me, he explained that he "can't give me the combo at the combo price, since I'm using a coupon". He had rung up the sandwich, then the drink, then the side separately, rather than the combo price. I explained that it clearly states "free sandwich with combo purchase". He refused, actually said something like "that's too low a price" so I said "thanks anyway", and headed out the door.

On my way out he said "and don't come back".

:Q

So Everett, am I banned from the whole chain, or just that particular store?
