Thread started out crazy. Some of those animated gifs made my brain explode.

But now.

I'll check it about once a week and its just pages of members complaining and yelling at each other. WTF people.
 
I don't understand the point of that thread, although I go on it for a few laughs. Alfa should stop slacking and post more often.

If I were a mod I would infract people for posting without something funny. In fact, new Hume-specific infractions under my rule would include:
-Posting without an image or video link, with a 15 minute grace period to edit something decent in.
--Double infraction for quoting a post only to say LOL, etc.
--Double infraction for bitching about something or someone in a way that isn't comedic.
-Posting any image that isn't meant to be funny or cool.
--Trippy stereoscopy is great, a guy taking a bull's horn through the ribs isn't, a worn-out meme is questionable.
--Posting political shit you ripped off your crazy senile relative's facebook would be an infraction and 24 hour auto-ban.
--Double infraction for the second offense, triple for the third, etc.

Feel free to add whatever I missed.

Maybe people just started going to reddit and 4chan instead of looking at reposts here?

BTW iron fist moderation rarely works well, people quickly tire of it go someplace else.

What drives many to post the funny stuff are the non funny comments related to the funny stuff.

I can think of a few that I'd love to see go somewhere else. But (more) seriously, I don't mind a little on-topic discussion at all. The problem is that people don't know when to shut up and get back to the point of the thread; I think requiring people to post any decent picture or video link with their comments would be an easy way to get around that. There would probably still be pissing matches, but as long as everyone else gets their funny, who cares?
 
I presume that the P&N forum is now being clogged up with people spoiling angry argument threads by insisting on posting funny pictures in them?

I'll go through it again tonight if I get a chance - seems I just removed 50 or so posts a week or two ago. But, I don't view that thread at work; so unless someone else gets to it, it'll have to wait about 15 hours til I'm back in my living room, eating dinner.
 
I don't mind the occasional political picture, non-funny picture, LOL or other comments to discuss a picture. I DO find the complaints and personal attacks very annoying.

it started when we changed from fusetalk to VB. In fusetalk there were no imbedded images. So alfafa decided to make a thread to test out the pics. Then it grew, and grew, and grew, then someone decided they wanted to screw with Google and have that thread show up if someone searched "what is Jesus' middle name?"

It was really fun for a while but now its mostly people arguing or posting ignorant political shit. Just like with anything around here, this is why we can't have nice things.

Everything is appreciated, but that seems to just be treating the symptoms. A mod did move and lock about 50 posts after two people decided to crap the thread with political attacks.

It's like what happens on the internet if you let things go unchecked for a while... All the trolls and douches turn it into a shitstorm, and it crashes and burns. I didn't really think ATOT was the type of forum where that type of stuff was posted anyway.

If you want to witness a funny/random internet trollfest, reddit or 4chan is your place (or P&N here).
