I see this posted a lot, which I find quite puzzling. If you've ever used Live Search before you should be able to immediately see the features in Bing that were never in Live Search. There are a number of them.

Yes, I was puzzled too when Microsoft Vista had so many features that Windows XP did not. It even looks a little different. There's no way those two came from the same company.

Wow! You hover over the videos and it plays as a preview... amazing. The amount of porn is wow! 😀

😕 I'm puzzled because some people are saying Bing is just Live Search with a new name. Which is quite clearly not the case. Even if it uses the Live Search indexing engine or whatever, it's obviously a much larger and more comprehensive product. Would you say that Vista is just XP with a new name?

Yep, I've noticed the overall post count here at ATOT is a bit down since the introduction of Bing porn. I guess everyone's hands are too tired/sore/greasy to post...

I would say Vista is Microsoft's successor Windows OS to XP-- they share the same base, but added a few new features and changed the look and feel a bit.

Which is pretty much what they did from Live Search (which totally sucked) to Bing.

Take a look at the maps-- pretty much identical to how they looked under Live Search.

Agreed, but none of that invalidates what I said earlier - it's not correct to say that Bing is Live Search with a new name.

Ok... I see your point as Bing is more than just a renamed Live Search... I guess the poster should've clarified and said "Bing is the new name of Microsoft's Live Search, with some new features added".

I was looking for something the other day for work, had 2 or 3 random words and Bing told me it had 0 fucking results for it. 0 results? What? That's not even possible on the internet, I could put in retard brick satan and you should get at least 1 entry if not 34 million. So I had to go to google and try it (google was loading slow for some reason that day). Google found what it was supposed to find. Amazing what a decent search end does.

Bing is still pretty, pretty and stupidly named.

50,400 results via Bing
162,000 via Google

Winner is.... google!

From Bing.com :

Live Search is evolving. Welcome to Bing.

On a technical level, yes, the nuts and bolts behind the scenes may not make it "the new Live Search", but from a marketing / product standpoint, it is. Hell, when Honda makes a new Accord, it'll probably share not many of its parts with its predesessor, but it will still be "the new Accord". So, in that sense, Bing is the new Live Search 🙂
