I have a basic idea about rss, but I need a reader.
What should I use and why do I even care?

Been there, done that. It sucked bad, I hate change (plus I crashed it regularly).

I'm interested in seeing the interface, etc. so I can see if there's a way I can use it at any of our websites to our advantage.

I use a personalized google homepage, and I have all the news stuff on there.
I wasn't even aware it was rss.
I'll have to go take a peek and see if I can get anything I want on there.

Holy cawk, in less than two minutes I now have the Anandtech news on my google homepage.

Teh Google just gives you a type in and dropdown box.
I typed in Anandtech, it gave me a link, i grabbed it and okayed it, and voila, I had the feed.
I then moved it to the far right under my sports feed and I'm in.
Now I know how to add other feeds as well, I just type in a name then copy and paste the url and I'm golden. :D

It still doesn't address the reader deal, but I'm not stoked enough to go looking.

Now the ideal thing for the 100 ppd poster would be a ticker roll at the bottom of the screen that updates in real time - using RSS feed data. A quick glance reveals someone has replied or there is a new post that you're interested in? No problem! Just click the text and it launches your browser right to the thread. :)

The only thing I used to read RSS feeds was my XBox. I mean, if I am already at the computer, I could just look up something if I was interested. I don't need to be "fed" info I probably won't care about.

It's the only thing that gets me through the day at work. Bookmark the yahoo news rss feed and read the headlines from the tool bar :D

??? I think you are confused about rss. It is used to quickly disseminate information, specifically change in information. And if RSS crashed firefox, your system has stability issues.

I thought RSS was useless until I created my Google homepage, then I realized what genius it is. There's nothing like having a contiuous feed of Random Chuck Norris Facts.
