There's no such thing as a "hardcore gamer". There is nothing about sitting in front of a TV or computer screen and playing games that could be remotely associated with the idea of "hardcore".

Yeah....the X Games are the apex of hardcore, right?

are people who play the sims or similar 20 hours a day hard core gamers? if not, why not?

No. "Gaming" requires utilization and the testing of your reflexes and hand-eye-coordination.

Otherwise you could call a secretary who uses Excel 9 hours a day a gamer.

only one problem......excel isnt a game and it doesnt become a game the longer you use it 😕

there are actually excel macros that are games

playing games in excel is pretty hardcore.

hardcore - intensely loyal, die-hard.

so please stfu and troll somewhere else.

X-games aren't hardcore, they wear pads. The Badluck 13 Riot Extraviganza, they were hardcore. Google them if you're curious. Now about hardcore gamers, anybody who goes into serious debt keeping up with the latest Vid Card, Cpu, ram, and other pieces of hardware to squeeze another 12 fps out of a game that worked perfectly 5 cards and $12,000 ago could be considered "hardcore gamer!". Hmm. . . is that hardcore gaming or hardcore shopping?

The term irks me, because it means whatever the person using it wants it to mean. Usually in the form of: "You are not a hardcore gamer, because X". X=whatever the one using the term "hardcore gamer" does that the person talking to doesn't. That could be: Doesn't buy the topend peice of hardware the day it comes out, doesn't turn off all eyecandy and run 640x480, doesn't turn all eyecandy and play resolution set at InfinityxInfinity, doesn't play Game X(because every "hardcore player" does, duh!), doesn't Invert Mouse or other funky control binding, WASD!, etc etc etc ad nauseum amen. IOWs, it's usually used as Gradeschool playground flamebait.
