it's only gay because you can't defend against it

If you're Orc or human, get defense towers up and build a few grunts/footmen. As Undead, get a graveyard going and upgrade your zigs, while producing ghouls like crazy.

The most important thing I do that helps me is protect my defense towers with buildings. i.e. have towers for orc surrounded by burrows, barracks, and altar. It makes the towers a lot harder for them to get to without destroying your other buildings first, all the while they're getting hammered by the towers. Although most will take one look at your protected towers, turn tail and run, so you can focus on teching up/creeping in the meantime and then wasting them in the late game.

Kinda OT, but has anyone tried to play a home lan game w/ a couple people against the computer? My friend and I tried to and we cannot win. Maybe we are both just terrible at the game

scout....keep your units a little on the outskirts of your town. roam around the entrances into your town, keep an eye out for wandering enemy peons. if you see a tower rush, that usually means they're weak to begin with. you should be able to take them early on. just watch out for towers in their town.

the key is to scout and spot them trying to do it early.

that's basically it. defense. especially if you're Orcs. Orcs are very strong later on in the game when upgraded to higher tiers. NE's are so strong early on. A NE vs Orc matchup favors the NE early on, IMO. If you can thwart their initial attack, expand, and upgrade, you have the advantage.

Huntresses are the most powerful tier1 unit in the game. They are fast, decently high HP, bouncing attk ( grrr..), and do decent damage. Against a good player who mass huntresses, you cannot challenge them in the open field. You can try and pick off groups of huntresses that are less than 5, but 10 or more, and you're basically suiciding.

Human: 2 towers in a well laid out town can defend against huntresses without siege. Then proceed to upgrade to knights with priest/sorc backup.
Orc: The burrow and 2 tower combo works, proceed with bloodlust/heal/grunt/tauren combo
Undead: Upgrade to tier2 (gives your town hall an attack) and 3 spirit towers well do it. Proceed with your usual mass skeleton/necro/ghoul combo.

I would recommend for orc, putting your towers in the FRONT of your burrows (behind a regular structure). Towers have fortified armor, and thus take reduced damage from normal attacks. If you put your burrows up front, they're cannon fodder (medium armor). Putting burrows in back allows your peons easier access to hide.

I've recently just started playing online and I hate when I'm playing as undead and I'm against orc on a small 1v1 map and they tower rush me.. don't know what I can do

Thats a hard scenario (there are multiple ways to tower rush, so i'll just give a generic answer). I'd get a ghoul to patrol the obvious areas, and get a ghoul to scout their base. If you dont see a barracks and hes not teching up (typical of most tower rushers), then skip and go get some siege early, but you still need a decent amount of ghouls.

but see... the time I got it done to me he was able to pump out about 4 orc pesants and have them at my base by the time my barraks were just finishing

I want to see that replay :)

another thing to remember is to keep your orc burrows close to your town hall and peons. that you can have your peons run into the burrows and attack when you get rushed.

Are you building an Altar first or Barracks?

Your Hero should be scouting for wandering peons.

Computer's tough, but can be real stupid. Just expand and let the PC's gold supply dry up. Guard the expansion mines and you should be fine. The computer can "click" to create and control units "instanteously", compared to your having to move around the map. That's why it's so tough. While you're grouping units and running around attacking the computer, it is controlling each unit during a battle (at least I assume so). Does this make sense?

I tried expanding. I would set up another base at a completely different location but by the time i set that up and get my main base going they are already attacking me or my friend and they just swarm the base. I think it's just my skill level. :(

really? i always seem to have an easier time w/ Undead. I always attack them early (away from their Ziggaurats-sp?). NE's give me the toughest time.

i was a level 8, but i played alot of 2v2 and 3v3's.

i just started a new character to test out my 1v1 skills. i'm at level 4 with that. so, maybe i'm just playing against sucky players :D

i'm still no where near an expert, so take my advice w/ a grain of salt :p

I guess it's never occured to me to build base D, I suppose 1 or 2 towers could help alot, but then, I can so see those huntresses tearing through them with ther rebounding attack. :(

The computer owns so much on LAN play b/c it can micromanage it's base and units extremely well. They can do muliple things in multiple places without having to scroll there, or figure out the key shortcuts for spells. they're so hax. :(

So what exactly was stopping the huntresses to laying waste to your base? Your workers?

That's what I was trying to say about the computer :p

Remeber to keep your buildings close to one another, so they can't attack things by staying out of distance. Building burrows behind the towers is a good idea as well. Once you see an attack coming, quickly make your peons burrow and draw the huntresses near.

Good luck, NE's are tough :(
