wtf--IE crashes repeatedly

Internet Explorer started crashing on a w2k install so i did a new win98 install and had the same problem so I did another Win98 fresh install and still have the same problem. I have upgraded to IE 6.0 and did the other fixes etc and continually crash the stinking browser. My puter runs fine other than IE crashes. What could the problem be that 2 fresh installs and upgrades/patches can't fix?

thats really weird have you tried firebird 0.6.1 to make sure its not somesort of internet connection problem?

What kind of crash is it? It might be some other software that you're using.

The latest crash was a problem with mshtml.dll, other times I sent the error report and was referred to updates for direct x 9. vb script, can't remember but i think there was a gdi.exe and user.exe problem. There is no new software installed that hasn't worked fine before unless it might be yahoo messenger.

I used to get this quite often a while back. On xp the error report kept saying video card drivers. As ati released drivers IE would crash less frequently but still happened. I ditched my soyo motherboard about a month ago and I haven't had the first crash, yet.

mozilla has crashed a few times too......this system is 2 years old and has never caused problems
any way to figure out where the problem lies?

Sounds like a hardware or driver issue.
