WTF?!? Ice Cube To Star In 'Welcome Back, Kotter' Movie...

LOS ANGELES -- The good news -- Ice Cube says he was a big fan of "Welcome Back, Kotter."

The not-so-good news: Snoop Dogg said he was a big fan of "Starsky and Hutch" -- and we all know how that turned out.

Even so, Ice Cube will be producing a remake of the 1970s TV show and play the title role, Kotter.

Variety said the former rapper will take on the role made popular by Gabe Kaplan. Kaplan also is the co-owner to the rights to the story of a former student at a Brooklyn high school who ends up teaching the same kind of kids he used to hang out with.

Kaplan said he's been resisting a movie version for years. But he said he likes the way this project is shaping up. Kaplan basically is giving this film his blessing.

I'd like to see some director remakes the Cosby Show with someone like Nicholas Cage or Tom Cruise playing Bill Cosby.

I'm not racist, but it seems to me that all these remakes are being bastardized because someone has a vendetta against old TV shows not frequently featuring black actors or something.

You just don't do that. It's really not a race issue at all. If someone did a remake of Happy Days and the Fonz was a blonde-haired guy it would be crap before it ever hit the theatres. If a redhaired dude with freckles played James Bond it would be crap... if a muscle-bound man played Bill Gates it would be wrong...

It's really just trying to cash in on someone else's concept because you're too dumb to think up your own ideas for good movies.
