wtf? I uninstalled messenger and I'm still getting IM spam!

Did you uninstall Windows/MSN Messenger, or did you disable the messenger service using services.msc?

the stupid thing is that every IM spam I've gotten is advertising for software that gets rid of it. :disgust:

I just uninstalled it under the add/remove programs things in winxp. I gotta do more?

 

Start --> Run --> type "services.msc" and disable the "Messenger" service.

are you talking about the messages that popup with "OK" at the bottom to get rid of them?

That's a completely different thing - "messenger service" -- not Windows Messenger
