I am embarassed to even post the results.

Here is the system specs ...

Q6600
8800GTX
4GB Ram
Vista Ultimate 64bit

I dont think the other parts really matter.

Is Vista awful for this??
Is there a certain driver I need?

Cause .... an 8400 score is HORRIBLE.....

Plz help!!

It's not horrible, but I'm pretty sure running 3DMark06 in Vista slows it down a tad, from what I remember to get the best possible score you run it in XP.

That score is drastically low for what he should score with his specs -- I would check GPUZ and CPUZ and proper 16X PCIe operation (not 4 or 8X like some mATX motherboard will default to) and make sure intel speedstep is turned off and your CPU clocks are what they should be.

That is indeed a low score for a GTX with a Q6600. Q6600 at stock should push around 3K for CPU only. I would expect something close to 11K with your rig. Unless you're running a non-standard resolution (1280x1024 is the default) or with AA/AF.

Wow, that is bad. I scored 10,300+ with the setup in my sig and I too am running Vista 64. Something is definitely up.

That's what I would check - seems to be a common problem.

You might recheck those connections just to 'sure them up' (one might be slightly loose) and reconnect the molex connectors for the same reason and then try another Vista driver with a clean install (of the driver). Past that I would probably try running 3dmark with 2GB of ram (pull th other 2GB). Also make sure your power supply is up the the task and your +12v rail is stable and strong since you didn't mention it it. Make sure speed step is off in the bios and in the Vista control panel in power options. You could also try reinstalling intel chipset drivers.

^Yes NV CP should be set @ application preferred quality (not high quality). Switch back to high-quality when gaming or in general.

I will check the connections.

Nothing forced on ....

All connections are tight, fresh install of a new driver ... No change....

This is making the choce of parting this out alot easier.

I will try removing 2gb of ram ... then I have no idea.

If games also happen to perform bad as well, I'd have to say you have a borked card; but if they games play fine then it just is probably just a 3Dmark issue.

Well, if it cant score well at on the benchmarks, I would think it isnt playing the games as well as it can either.
