Well, 4500lb if towing a boat/trailer but you can't have the Pilot fully loaded with passengers.

On a good note...sold my first CR-V tonight ;)

2) Where's your evidence on SUV drivers driving cars like sports sedans? I'd like to see some hard numbers. That's being said, "SOME" car-based SUV's can outhandle many cars on the road. SUV's like the BMW X5, Infiniti FX45, and Nissan Murano can whip many cars to shame in braking, handling, and acceleration. Hell, even our Highlander handles, accelerates, and brakes harder than my '95 Camry LE. It hauls a hell of alot more as well.

5 people and ski equipment? i take it they're not going overnight. took us an expedition for that

That'll go over like a turd in a punch bowl! Honda should stick with making their plastic cars. Leave the trucks to the big boys!

Who said anything about staying over?:p Seriously though, the Escape has a cargo capacity behind the rear seats of 33 cu ft. That's more than enough for a whole slew of ski equipment and luggage.

unibody + towing = doors that do not close. unibody cherokees have had this problem for quite some time. the torque of towing smething will twist the body and make it imossable to close the doors after opening. That is why one of the first thing mustang owners do is add sub frame connecters/stiffeners if they are serious about racing.

WTF are they thinking?

Cherokees are unibody? Are you talking about the small ones or the big Grand Cherokee?

The Cherokee and Grand Cherokee are both unibodys (and have always been--since '84 when the Cherokee was introduced). The Liberty is also a unibody. The old Wagoneer and the Wrangler are BOF

uni-body for a truck? They've got to be joking. Body on frame still exists in trucks because it WORKS. It's more rigid.

The X5 is the stereotypical yuppie car. Think about it, not only is it an SUV, it's a beemer. Just throw in a typical cell phone talking, "I spend way too much on my hair care products" yuppie and that's it.

that and it makes no sense compared to corporate sibling 540 wagon. unless you're special and can get a tax deduction out of it. even then i doubt the decrease in taxes is that large. wheres windogg when you need him?

V12 + X5 + 6-spd manual tranny = one crazy ride on the N-ring!

Ok so its a one-off car that will never come to production and the typical X5 drivers will probably never expose the performance capabilities of the X5...but still...thats a nice video. hehe.

That said, whats up with the new 4.6i and the FX45 tires...they are pretty wide and low-profile, how do they stand in the winter? I can't fathom the price to replace those massive beasts for winters tires!

Back to topic: I presume it would be possible to stiffen up the Accord chassis for a truck, however that would add a LOT of weight! Does Honda even have a body-on-frame chassis in their line-up (any line-up, JDM, NADM, etc..)?? I guess this would be their filler truck till they make the real thing!

On top?? I think that the Murano spanks both the Pilot and the Highlander...at least in looks and powertrain. I was kinda put off by the Murano's rear-end, but after seeing it in person, I think it's GORGEOUS :D As for cargo space, it has a much as a Highlander and a bit less than the Pilot.

How's the interior for the Murano?

I saw a black one today at Circuit City. I peeked inside and it was black with aluminum trim around the console...very nice.

Apparently the Murano and the FX use real aluminum inside. I wish Nissan got back to using suede (or suede-type material) in the door panels. My 240SX has it and I just love it, I dont' know why..but it feels nice and it flows perfectly with the design. However the Maxima doesn't, it has plushy leather on the doors.

OK, I can understand a car-based SUV, but a car-based pickup is f*&king ridiculous! :|:|

http://www.autoweek.com/cat_content.mv?port_code=autoweek&cat_code=autoshows&loc_code=&content_code=00398207

nah, car-based "SUVs" are ridiculous too

this thing better be very light-duty.

of course, that new plastic-clad POS they have proves that people will buy it simply because it says honda on it.

So, SUVs pollute terribly, eh? So you're saying that cars produced in the mid-90's pollute terribly, too, then, because that's where SUV exhaust emissions are right now....about where cars were in '96 or so. So SUVs don't really pollute very much and are actually very clean running machines.....new ones anyway. Now, pollution vs. gas milage....now that's another story, but I've always wondered why SUVs were singled out as the anti-Christ of vehicles.

I say that because minivans are just as dirty and their gas milage is horrible.....the latest Car & Driver comparison of minivans, in the 10 Best issue, ranked the Honda as top dog and had EXCELLENT mileage at 18MPG. I think you'd agree 18mpg is NOT great by any stretch of the imagination. Heck, my fiancee's Blazer gets 20mpg without even trying....and the foot to the floor most times.

What's wrong with car based stuff? It's a good way to make people think they are macho while being a little more safe for us guys with small cars. They still pollute as much as real SUVs though, because they can.
