WTF hellllppp windows

Alright, yesterday I left the PC and went to eat something. Came back, and instead of the average screensaver or w/e that's supposed to happen, Windows had brought up the Welcome screen, and showed I was logged on (I'm the only account open, admin).

I never have the welcome screen pop up.

This morning, I turn on the PC, and it goes to the welcome screen again. I'm like, wtf? I go to account settings and try to disable the welcome screen stuff. Well, I haven't turned the PC off yet, but just now I tried to Shutdown.

It brought up that old drop-down menu thing for Windows, instead of the regular 3 icon Shutdown Restart logoff stuff. It also says Home Edition, and I haven't seen that...ever since SP2.

I tried to see what was going on by going back to account settings, but I can't do it the normal ay (by clciking on account avatar in start menu). It's GONE!!!

What just happened? I have recently installed new programs, but that can't be it.

Turn off auto updates. use a system restore to take it back to pre-.net settings.

Screw it. If anyone has a solution other than reverting/or uninstalling, go ahead and post it. I'm just gonna turn off the comp for now (need sleep).

As for the restore...system restore does not remove all your shit, so long as you've set a restore point recently.

this is what you do. delete the new account. it will ask you if you want to remove the files for it. say yes. done. same thing happened to me... like 2 years ago
