So were all sitting down going to eat dinner (my wife, 11 year old, and my 4 year old) and I remebered the simpsons were new tonight and missed almost all of it. Turn on fox and some machine spits out "I'm going to pop a cap in your ass!"

Well now I cant let my childreen watch the simpsons again (atleast my youngest) for a long time now. When did it become so bad?

I can understand the childreen here dont see a problem but as a parent point of view that show took a turn for the worst.

I would say it's because the simpsons is not a childrens animation.

QFT. There has been "off-color" language in it since the beginning.

Yea, its not South Park bad but it sure isnt Sesame Street.

Also, you might want to keep the TV off, Family Guy and American Dad are next.

The older simpson reruns I watch all the time with very little to no bad words. I havent watched the simpsons (new episodes) in years and jsut remebered because family guy I wanted to tape.

I was just shocked when you watch the reruns for so long and then turn on a new one to hear what I wrote above. I would sure say that the newer ones no I wouldnt let them watch but the older ones arnt that bad imo.

what's wrong with it?

I mean, it's totally lame and unfunny as a show, but beyond that...

Yeah simpsons was never seriously meant for kids. More of the late teen to adult audience. Also, it's 2005. They updated the language a bit to keep it "fresh" with the current generation. If you're horrified by that i'm amazed you can watch Family Guy. It's miles and miles more vulgar than the simpsons. And don't even try South Park...

The simpsons has never been a children's cartoon. The humor has always been aimed higher.

There was an article in yesterday's paper about how the Simpson's jumped the shark. They also said to expect them to be on for 20 seasons. They have signed for 19, but they seem to think 20 is a nice round number to go out with. I beleive this is season 17.

The simpsons has always had off color stuff, and was never a TV show meant for or appropriate for children.

That said, the simpsons has been unfunny, sophmoric humor for years now.

Season 16.

And The Simpsons has run out of ideas, it's just rehashing the same crap over and over.
