No I don't think so, I am not going to go out of my way to remove something that was broadcasted on my video without my consent.

The truth of the matter is that people at Youtube are wussies, how many street vendors don't sell truly pirated CD's on the streets and nothing is done about them? Or the internet?

Anyways, I am still amused by the guy here that *thinks* DISH Net's encrypted signal has not yet been decoded :D

Because its almost impossible to take care of everyone who is selling on the streets and hosting copyrighted files on their own servers or in ways that are impossible to scan for.

If you're uploading it on youtube, its kind of easy because you're hosting it on their servers in a format that is easily scannable for copyrighted songs.

STUPID IDIOTS, THE RADIO STATION PAID THE FEE FOR ITS RIGHT TO USE THE SONG AND IT WAS BEING BROADCASTED IN THE AIRWAVES, WHATEVER SONG IS BROADCASTED IN THE AIRWAVES BECOMES PUBLIC DOMAIN, READ THE FREAKIN F.C.C. RULES YOU STUPID RETARDS.

God does not like you to be so vulgar, and no, fcc does not let you record what plays over a radio, so your recording was illegal. Shame on you. :oops:

Can you go back to screaming about God, abiogenesis, & evolution? I loved watching you get the shit kicked out of you by the guys in Highly Technical. They mopped the floor with your shitty logic. Ewww...one guy in a magazine over 20 years ago said something, therefore it MUST be true!

Maybe you need to read the rules about copyrights first.

Indeed. Let's talk to someone who knows about broadcast rules. Is there someone in the crowd who's done editing for broadcast? [MMNTech raises his hand]

Ok, so here's the deal. Broadcast content is still copyrighted. It is not public domain. It's legal to copy it for personal use (using a VCR or DVR) but not for rebroadcast.

There are two exceptions. The 10 second rule, which allows you to use up to a 10 second clip for demonstration purposes. E.g, a news radio station plays a brief clip of a song before an entertainment story.

Second exception is review and parody. You can use clips of copyrighted content under fair use if you are reviewing a product or parodying it. You still cannot show the whole thing, but this allows for longer clips. But, this is a grey area. Read up on Doug Walker's fight with YouTube over his Nostalgia Critic show.

Mind you, YouTube are copyright Nazis. Their automated filters blindly take down anything that could remotely be construed as infringing. There's no review process by a person. Vimeo is a better site in that regard.

As for Dish Network in Canada, it's technically illegal to possess an American satellite SIM card for use in Canada. That's why you have to use American addresses to sign up for these services. It's known as the grey market. That's because American providers aren't required to abide by Canadian content laws. Sirius/XM is the exception, but they also have an independent Canadian subsidiary.

No law is on your side if you think it is perfectly lawful to crack Dish Network's signals just because they are accessible on your property.

Wrong sir, if you are screaming to your wife your private life and I happen to hear it in my backyard am I illegally eavesdropping on you?

If you put on a paid stage show in your backyard and I can see it from my window, am I being a criminal for watching it for free?

Dish Network's satellite signals invade my private space, it's bombarded by their signal, I never asked for it nor did I looked for it, but I WILL USE THEM because I can, and canadian law backs me up on this.

If you record it, then yes. Please let me know if you've done this so I can report it to the appropriate authorities.

1. If you record it yes.
2. If you record it yes. Also, if the owner does not want you to watch, yes

Yep, search on the net, ANYTHING broadcasted in the public airwaves becomes private domain, as long as you don't use the song/movie to replicate a million CD's and start selling them for profit. Do you think the government would have allowed cassette players to have the ability to record radio?

This is why I get free DishNetwork satellite TV here in Canada, the law states that whatever signal in bombarded to your backyard and invades your home space is free for you to use as you like, Dishnetwork's signal is invading my house but I don't mind :)

Not only are you a moran, you're also a thief?

I'm pretty sure while it becomes public domain to listen to i.e you can blast your radio and let people around you listen to it, you cannot record it and play it back as your own recording.

Wait, so what is the point of a tape deck that records or a VCR?

It's specifically illegal in Canadian law to use foreign satellite TV you tool.

Canadian law prohibits you from decrypting those signals:

http://www.ictregulationtoolkit.org/en/Document.3285.pdf

9. (1) No person shall
(a) knowingly send, transmit or cause to be sent or transmitted any false or fraudulent distress signal, message, call or radiogram of any kind;
(b) without lawful excuse, interfere with or obstruct any radiocommunication;
(c) decode an encrypted subscription programming signal or encrypted network feed otherwise than under and in accordance with an authorization from the lawful distributor of the signal or feed;
(d) operate a radio apparatus so as to receive an encrypted

Also,
- You don't understand what public domain is
- I think you made up "private domain"
- You don't seem to know what DRM means
- You generally have no idea what you're talking about and should probably stop posting

Well, broadcast companies never really liked those things either, but they were limited to physical media so it wasn't THAT bad.

The point of those were to record personal things if you wished like videos you made yourself or things like that. Also, lots of things are fine as long as you keep them for yourself, like backups and such.

As soon as other people gain access to them, it becomes a bit problem

This guy has got to be a troll.

Is it possible this guy is unwillingly letting himself appear like such a goddamn moron?
He's so comically aloof it's surreal.
